Speaking in tongue is a sign by God that the speaker has received the Holy Spirit. Recipients speak intelligible, coherent languages as inspired by God. The languages are never learned. Any other thing is gibberish and fake.

the real reason the holy spirit blessed the early disciples with speaking in tongues, was cos they wld need it in spreading the Good news. The mumble jumble we hear this days is just not it (imo). I believe speaking in tongues happens when you are feeled with the Holy Spirit, you then have the ability to speak other languages without learning them. I do not think it is the blahahahahputtaaaa business we hear all the time from people, however i may be wrong.
I once did some prayers years ago and after I had finish, I was speaking perfect fluent Igbo language to the girl next to me. I could not even believe my mouth could moved that fast, it was like something was speaking through me. I have no idea what i told her to this day. I was shocked, however hours later; I couldn’t speak Igbo anymore, well only the little bits I already knew. Is that speaking in tongues?, who knows.

Yea! speaking in tongue is a God's gift. I have heard & seen it myself with koro koro eyes in 1 C & S ,how an half bake literate man went into into the spirit realm and came back speaking, praying in fluent American accent/language. Trust me, if someone doesn't believe in holy spirit or speaking in heavenly tongue, then u r rather than dead, yet to be buried.

The ability to speak in tongues is a gift of the holy spirit.. See ACTS 2:4. There are two kinds of tongues: the tongues of men(various languages) like u saw among the apostles and tongues of angels..see 1COR 13:1 also see 1COR 14:2. This is not something that can be learnt by man of his own volition but a gift of the spirit for building up our faith because we know not what we are saying but believe we speak in accordance to the utterance of the spirit of God witnessing to our Spirit. Any man that makes you think otherwise is deceiving you. To receive this gift u need to repent and believe without a trace of doubt in you. It is important to also note that there are those with the gift of interpretation of tongues.

Basically I am asking you to study the book of 1COR 12,13,14. Pray for understanding from God and don't just skip through it but read and meditate on these words.

It is because the holy spirit gives his gifts to anyone he pleases,for it doesn't matter where u are from.I didn't learn mine,the holy spirit came upon me after praying one evening and i began to speak words i couldn't understand.The next day,i was on my bed after prayering and i began speaking in tongues uncontrollably n my family all came 2 my bed side.I felt so happy n at peace with God who has also given me the gift of prophesy.

u are right.I belonged to the group here who think that speaking in tongues was all fake until i received the gift of speaking in tongues and of prophesy in my mother's bedroom after saying my private prayers.When the Holy Spirit comes upon you your life would be transformed.I have seen people who the Holy Spirit came upon and they began to laugh uncontrollably and after which their lives never remained the same.
