What exactly did the ibos want the yorubas to do? Did they expect them to stand on the fence whilst the

ibos over-run yorubaland? Or did they expect them to stay neutral as ojukwu turn yorubaland into a theatre of war between

him and the hausa/fulanis? or maybe they expected the yorubas to side up with them and in the process get slaughtered by

the northern troops stationed in Lagos, Ibadan and Abeokuta?

Could Ndigbo authorise a Yoruba to go and slaughter his kins in the west?. Where are your brains guys?.

Anybody that wants to know about the war should get all the books available and read. Lies are flying from left, right and centre. I Just read some sweet lies by Adebanjo trying to deny what we all know to be true that Achebe has put down in book for generation unborn.

The Truth is that the Yoruba Political leadership supported the war and saw it as an opportunity to jump into the mainstream political leadership of the country. Unlike the Midwestern leaders that refused joining the war against the war. They threw all they have into it, forgetting that the January 1966 boys who staged the coup were pro-Awolowo boys, driven purely by socialistic ideas and saw Awo as their mentor.

The Truth also is that Ojukwu refused advices from Igbo political leaders who wanted him to take it easy and avoid the war; because he was driven by his personal ambition. Ojukwu treated Igbo leaders with disdain until deep into the war when he saw himself losing out.

The truth is that the main Yoruba leadership (The drivers of AG, UPN and their off-shot ACN) wanted the Igbo race to be incapacitated - hence the 20 pounds story and the starvation as an act of war. Also Awolowo hoped to be the President of Nigeria after the war and presented himself as such only to be chartered by the emergence of Shagari.

Thanks God Achebe's book will serve as a payment for Awolowo and his like. Posterity is already judging them. No lies can save them
