What Is Wrong With The 1914 Amalgamation???? by ganzydon(m): 12:45pm On Nov 09, 2012
I read & a lot of people saying the amalgamation was wrong, I strongly disagree to this. The fact that our leaders from 1970 could not creat a stable nation don't have furcus for the future & the current leadership is the worst in history should not be a reason to tag the amalgamation as wrong.
We say Nigeria is the most poporlar black nation, the giant of Africa, can Nigeria have this atribute if only the east, south, North was the nation.
Those seeking cheap popularity or media attention by finding fault in the amalgamation should think again. The abuse of democracy by our leaders has make us to see the amalgamation as faulty we as a nation now have a 3 view of the nation and is making the nation ununited.
1 Ethnic view:- our leaders make us to only value people we have same ethnic group. He is not from the north, he is not from niger delta etc. The amalgamation was a plan to unite us dispite our diversity not to distingush us.
2 Religion:- when our leaders in relegious gathering make us to be enemies of with the other religion, our leaders have shown more religious diffrence towards us the mass, we don't feel secured when an oposite religion person rule, this is not the fault of amalgamation but our leaders.
3 Political Veiw:- when our leaders rule base on PDP CPC ACN ANPP, when oposition party see nothing meaning full in the ruling party. When the ruling party is not concern with opositon state. If the president & othe top ranking Nigerian can abandon National duty just to go & flag off a Governor campange then we shoul all know This is not the fault of amalgamation but our leaders.
We can blame what was ment to unite us a what is trying to distory us, amalgamation was to create a united Nigeria in its diaversity to to distory it. It has achieve it aim at the early stage we became the gaint of Africa the most poporla black nation, but from the 70s our leaders have fail to continue in the intial way due to greed & power strugle each want to have the ultimate power & the later abuse of democracy has make way to the beging of the disintegration & now the present leadership lacks furcus & direction is doing everything & looking for any little fault to place on the AMALGAMATION. Lugard was indeed a great visioneer to have untie us & make us one
