Renting a house in Lagos can be really tasking and frustrating, and not forgetting the presence of fraudsters and scammers who will stop at nothing just to manipulate naïve victims. So if you’re out there and you’re considering renting a house in Lagos, I would suggest you consider these 3 tips below seriously; for they would not just be helpful to you in securing a house, but would also aid you in getting a place you can call your home in a city like Lagos.

Be specific in your choice of a location
The first factor is to be sure of what you want exactly. Are you the reserved type whose priority in an environment revolves around solitude and “mind your business”? Or you’re the type who feels comfortable with noise and numbers. In any case, you need to define what you want so as to be able to filter out the location that best suites your person. For those who are particular about exclusivity, you could choose to live in areas like Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, Omole Estate phase II, Magodo GRA, Ikeja GRA. Another consideration could be for those wanting to live in lively and noisy areas like Mushin, Ikeja central, Yaba, Oshodi, Gbagada, Anthony, etc. Alternatively, you may want an area where the living cost is somewhat low like the outskirts which include Badagry, Agbado Ijaiye, etc.

Detailed research on your choice location
This is probably the most important factor to consider. You need to realize that your living space is where all that pertains to you will be centred at. Do not be in a hurry, even when you’re under pressure. You need to ask the right questions from already living residents about your choice area. Ensure you find out the market worth of the apartment, so you don’t end up spending beyond your budget. You also need to be wary of fraudulent people who are always on the look out for gullible victims.

Park in once you’re done with all the formalities and payment
The moment you’re done with paying the rent and all paper work fulfilled, move in immediately. When I say move in immediately, it includes doing so even without the purchase of furnitures or house basics. This may sound like a crazy move to do, but trust me, it’s a very good advice considering the nature of most Landlords in Lagos especially in the mainlands.
