Mitt Romney Blames 'gifts' For Defeat by Maxymilliano(m): 8:24am On Nov 15, 2012 |
Romney was reportedly accusing the president of doling out "gifts" to minority voters to curry their support for a second term. Mitt Romney told his top donors Wednesday that his loss to President Obama was a disappointing result that neither he nor his top aides had expected, but said he believed his team ran a “superb” campaign with “no drama,” and attributed his rival’s victory to “the gifts” the administration had given to blacks, Hispanics and young voters during Obama’s first term. Obama, Romney argued, had been “very generous to blacks, Hispanics and young voters. He cited as motivating factors to young voters the administration’s plan for partial forgiveness of college loan interest and the extension of health coverage for students on their parents’ insurance plans well into their 20s. Free contraception coverage under Obama’s healthcare plan, he added, gave an extra incentive to college-age women to back the president. Romney argued that Obama’s healthcare plan’s promise of coverage “in perpetuity” was “highly motivational” to those voters making $25,000 to $35,000 who might not have been covered, as well as to African American and Hispanic voters. Pivoting to immigration, Romney said the Obama campaign’s efforts to paint him as “anti-immigrant” had been effective and that the administration’s promise to offer what he called “amnesty” to the children of illegal immigrants had helped turn out Hispanic voters in record numbers. http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-romney-election-campaign-donors-20121114,0,5622330.story 1 Like

third to comment! but on a serious note the guy would have been more gracious if he had kept quiet than trying to find faults.Only losers find excuses for their shortcomings. Winners would always acknowledge their failings |

Romney should have borrowed a leaf from Nigeria Politicians who are always long on promises but short on deliveries. It is a given that the end justifies the means in every election, lying through the teeth promisisng heaven and earth prior to election may not really be a bad idea after all. Wish him better 'luck' next time. |

Sour grapes from Myth Romney His belief he could win was a myth in itself The republics lost because they failed to see America's changing demographics Simples! Reaching out to mainly white voters and neglecting Blacks and Latinos in their proposed policies What else did they expect? Kisses and hugs for the same well beaten path Bush drove on before Obama? Obama has his flaws but what of Romney's 47% blunder and other infamous gaffes? Mtcheew |

What Romney said was on point and what Obama did was very wrong. Dashing tax payers money to the masses tp garner votes is the same nonsense Nigerian politicians are doing and it will eventually turn America to greece. All of you who support it will be here when the economy finally crashes. It is already in a big mess with 17 trillion dollars debt and another major credit downgrade about to happen. Time is ticking on America. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/06/us-usa-debt-downgrade-idUSTRE7746VF20110806 |

Nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. Romney, if you can hear me. I would have voted for you, if i could. Obama ain't nothing but trouble. He even wants to take more money from the rich and give it to the poor. He is not solving America's problem's he is postponing them. |

Romney and his campaign has accepted it, but all of you can't still deal with it... DAMN, payback is a real bit.ch. Btw if Romney feels taxpayers monies were used, SUE HIM. Time is ticking my ars, and it's your demi god Romney that would have saved America, yall should carry your bad belle and move jor...smh |

Love_Decay: Nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. Romney, if you can hear me. I would have voted for you, if i could. Well unfortunately you could not vote, and even if you did, it still won't make any difference anyway. That's the idea, if you make more money, you pay more taxes - simple. A lot of middle class families (which voted for Obama), sided with that idea. This isn't about the poor or rich, it's about tax laws. The wealthy and rich like Romney pays almost same taxes as an average dude earning 60k, YET, his companies go to China and encourage manufacturing there. If he wants to help Obama solve the country's mess, now is the time to unveil that magical wand he would have if he was president. Besides, Congress has a debt committee which Rep Paul Ryan chairs. The committee has often reached an impasse because no one seem to wanna budge on budget trimming cuts, YET you blame Obama... He's solving America's problem from a gradual stage - from healthcare to education reforms, business, tax and environment laws. The ONLY problem holding him back may be the economy, which he has made clear as his priority second term, but other areas are doing just fine. The mortgage and finance fields are bouncing back, less bankruptcies, less fraud on wall street. IMO, I think they need to revisit the labor laws of this country because labor is too expensive for manufacturing. If they can manufacture for less here, you will see America return back to it's old glory, and that's what Obama is currently working on...haha 1 Like |

Time is ticking on America. Bros why are you making it sound like Obama was sharing and distributing money to the citizen to win votes? He only initiate policies with far reaching positive effects to the different categories of Americans and it worked for him during the election but for you to conclude that Obama initiates those policies itemized by Romney just for election purpose is wrong. To the link you provided, it only dwelt on present US ratings and which cannot be divorced from the wobbling economy and trying to link the rating and the wobbling economy to Obama also wrong. The US economy was already on a free fall prior to the coming of Obama, and if you must know, it's always easy to destroy than to build, this is exactly what Obama is grappling with. |
Re: Mitt Romney Blames 'gifts' For Defeat by Nobody: 1:29pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
In fact, I like the way Romny has painted his defeat, this will make him to strategise better next time and that is the way politics should be played. If it were to be Nigerian politicians that lost this election, the reason they would give would have been electorial malpractise and rigging. They would call for "baboon and dog" fight and will head straight to the court even when they know they lost. |
Re: Mitt Romney Blames 'gifts' For Defeat by thelastPope(m): 2:01pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
manny4life: This is the typical Nigerian village mentality. Never about issues but about "I have defeated my enemies". The issues are very clear. Four years of terrible debt. American states declaring bankruptcy, 57 million people on food stamps. A continued increase in unemployment. A foreign policy mess. You can't run away from the issues. They are as clear as day and we will continue to talk about them. No one is going to keep quiet just because the president is a black man and you blacks will say its racism. He will face the same scrutiny as every other American president. Simple as |
Re: Mitt Romney Blames 'gifts' For Defeat by thelastPope(m): 2:11pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
manny4life: No offense, but this looks like something lifted from the democratic party website. None of the current economic figures supports this. There is about to be another credit downgrade.you can't keep blaming bush for obama's inefficiencies. How can you say he kept the economy for his second term in office? How does that sound to you? Crazy really! Its always about the economy. People are loosing jobs terribly. All the recent shootings are about those who lost jobs. These issues are very clear and no one can sweep it under the carpet with the "white hate obama cliche" |
