All of a sudden the whole news and media hype about this just fizzled out! What’s the status of the Name change of University of Lagos? Listening to Channels Television news now and heard reporters still referring to it as Unilag on the occasion of her 50th year anniversary. Does it mean the name Moshood Abiola University as imposed by President Jonathan in May has been reversed? If yes, when and how was it done? Useful information by Nairalanders will be appreciated. |

@OP, You made a very good observation and one that Nigerians generally need to pay attention to and learn from. Government can put anything on the citizenry they want, its left to the citizenry ti accept or reject it. In this case the name change is rejected. When they came up wih six political zones, people did not like it but thy did not reject it either so it stuck. Lessons going forward, the people have power to legitimize government order or to reject it....simply by doing what was done in the example you cited. |
