SPIRITUAL PERFECTION REDEFINED- Of whom we have many thimgs to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. Hebrews. 5:11- Did u ever try talking 2 a person who didn't understand a word you were saying, who didn't know know your language? U can stand and talk endlessly 2 him and he just shakes his head and says a word dat he's learned, meaning i don't understand, well dats d reason its hard, the writer of Hebrews is saying we hav many things 2 say; but i'm talking one language and you are understanding another. Seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when of the time u ought 2 be teachers, ye hav need for d time you ought to be teachers, you hav need that one teach u again which be d first principles of d oracle of God; and hav bcom such as hav need of milk. And not of strong milk-Hebrews 5:11-12, i want to call attention to d phrase "are bcom such" They were'nt such bt they had bcom such as have need of milk and nt of strong meat,(5:12b) they had regressed and gone back to thier childhood state after having, obviously grown some. For every one dat useth milk, he explains, is unskillful in d word of righteousness. He said dat we are 2 leave d first principles that is, the elementary instructions of d christian faith, we are to leave them, bt nt to leave them behind. We are nt to leave them as one leave a house and goes to another or leave one city and go to another. We are to leave them behind as a builder leaves the foundation and goes on several stories higher towering in d air. THEY HAVE LEFT THE FOUNDATION, NOT THAT THEY'VE DEPARTED FROM IT, BUT THEY HAVE BUILT ON IT. Now that is what d man of God needs.

Success in this context is not talking about prosperity but about spiritual success and becoming spiritually matured.

THE FIRST PRINCIPLES. What are these first principles that we should leave? He names them for us so there is no misunderstanding. He says repentance, faith, baptism, and of laying of hands, and of resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgement.(6:1-2) these are the elementary first principles of the doctrine and we are to leave them as a builder leaves the foundation and builds on up. Not laying again the foundation, He says the structure must rest on the foundation no matter how high it may tower into the sky. It rest upon the foundation of Christ, of whom He is and of repentance and faith in Him; of baptism into the body of Christ; of the coming resurrection of the dead and the judgement to come. These are the basic doctrines of the faith that we rest upon, and no matter how far we go in the christian faith we never leave them. They are there as a foundation upon which we build. The trouble was that the Hebrews never went beyond the foundation. And this preoccupation with elementary truth is also characsteristic of evangelicals today. Conversely the ignoring of christian truth is characsteristics of the liberals. But exclusive preoccupation with the first principles is characsteristic of the average church.
