I would like to take a poll of nairalanders on this issue. I personally think that since Lagos State is a melting pot, ACN nominating Pat Utomi as their governor will go a long way towards making ACN a national party as opposed to the regional party that it currently is. In addition, Pat Utomi is a well respected technocrat who will be able to continue the good work that Governor Fashola has started.

Do you think that ACN should make Pat Utomi their candidate for governor of Lagos in 2015. Please answer by saying anyone of the following and provide your reasons:

U forgot one vital thing op, that this is not national elections but a regional one. And we all know how regional nigeria is, too regional infact.
U cannot bring an hausa man to contest for the anambra elections, no matter how good and reliable he is, everyone would rather vote for a fool from their place.

Abia will never have it so good

A good idea in principle, but don't know how feasible in practice.

In a country practising a 'TRUE' federal system of gov't.....a 'NATION' in the true sense of the word, what you suggested would not only be possible, but would have happened much earlier in our life as an 'independent' country; not only in Lagos, but other cities/states across the 'federation' as well......kinda like we see happening in the USA.

As a country, Nigeria was always bound to give a 'unique' take on what ordinarily would be a straight-forward (federal) system of gov't .

But like Ejine pointed out, i would prefer if he were to be the next Governor of Delta (or Anioma ) state.

The likes of Pat Utomi should join people like Rochas by going to their various states to contest for the governorship election. If we can have the likes of Utomi, Soludo, Fashola and Rochas at the state level, i tell you that in no time Nigeria will change. I know know why some technocrats are more interested in the center. I'm hoping to see Pat Utomi in Delta state after Uduaghan. Afterall it's the turn of Anioma.
