ayoola2002: I struggle to respond to your question purely because it's one of the most unintelligent question I ve had to answer ( no insult meant)! Have you asked you self what made the poverty level of these countries low? Have you spent a few seconds to imagine the direct effect of the multi billion dollar effect this sort of project would have on the GDP of any country it is developed in? Do you realise the knock off effect this would have on the poverty level that you are so concerned about? How do you propose that the poverty level is automatically whipped off? |

demelza: My guy just name one country you know that major developments are not carried out by the elite class and I will show you Mars. The main factor is that it is a development that will enreach a crosssection of the society from the very big landlords to the gate man. As TESCO says every little helps. |

Obstey01: My guy as El Rufai once said "Abuja was not constructed for poor people" likewise most other Mega cities around the globe. Every sensible government must have plans to create Mega cities and also plans for rural development - Trust me the is a reason for this! Not everyone is meant to be in the city. Fasholas seems to have the same massage as well. If you can not take the heat you leave the kitchen. Sounds though but that's life. |

KenGali: Abeg, make them no build the thing for Abuja, Onitsha is a better location. Or the FG should sponsor such Private Sector driven Federal Cities in Three or six zones over the next twenty Year. IThat will give average Nigerians access to residences in places that actually works, meant for human being (not monkies like Lagos) with major underground drainage, gas, water, and power networks, and superior intracity transport. Building it in Abuja will limit the benefits to politicians, while those of us in oil states will still be crying over what has been spent there already! It will allow the FG to set a new standard for city development in Nigeria. Abuja should be kept small and efficient. By the way having cities that are colossally large has never been a good model, but rather an evidence of lack of planning. As much as you have good reasons for asking for this development to move to other cities, tradition requires that such icons of remark a built with within the capital city. For instance the millennium dome in East London, the More than 5* hotel in Dubai, the Eiffel Tower in Paris etc. As much as it might be desired that such development is sprees nation wide it is more valued if placed within the capital city. |

Good initiative, but its a mis-placement of priorities. Moreover, how can FG celebrates our own dear country 100yrs anniversary with a private owned project? Every business man wants returns on investment, therefore such project shouldn't be seen as a national achievement.its an idea (project) cleverly crafted for profit.you need to also know that the beneficiary of such project are not ordinary nigerians, but people in power! They already have their share cuts in cash, land allocation, incentives or investments before its commencement. There are trievial issues that needs urgent attention than such project. Our stability,Power, water are lacking in many towns, villages and cities, yet we want to put in place project that will be used to celebrate anniversary yet to come, in whose case our unity/integration as a nation still under question! Misplacement of priorities! My 1 cent. |

What could be the logic for this indiscernible decision? Let's ask the leaders? What is there to celebrate? Is it the country that there isn't any security and people die chickens and ants because of incesant terrorist attacks every other day? Is it the society that is in a parlour state and social infrastructures are in decay: epiletic supply of electricity is our companion, joblessness is our asset, poverty is like a brother to many and corruption our boss? Little or no development, collapse of the public educational system to mention a few? The submission is simply that we have leaders who are visionless, insensitive, lack direction, irresponsible and reckless. we must take charge. It is the time Nigerians and the youths must change the present order by way of rigorous consideration before election, by lawfully blocking election riggers, exposing and bringing to books this, to use the trite word, "CANNIBALISTIC CABAL". The predatory rule must end. God will not come down to help us but He has given us intelligence and the will power to what is right. We must initiate the MOVE now without bloodshed but with resolute obstinacy and opposition to misrule, corruption, mediocrity and senseless waste. |

cyril83: Nigeria @100 make i laugh in yoruba says who nigeria will ever last till dat time, mind you a word nigeria will defo be erased @55 so dnt bother to waste any fund You guys are not getting it. Nigeia as a geographical entity will become 100 years counting from the 1914 amalgamation in 2014. Gaining independence in 1960 does not mean we had no Nigerian Nation before then. I may be wrong though, but that is my understanding especially given the slight suggestion to 1914 in the SaharaReport write up |

tutee1000: Nigeria needs about 20 million housing units to optimally satisfy its citizens (minister for housing, 2012). Any move to provide more housing accommodation is highly welcomed.Sorry to burst your bubble but this mega city isn't about providing housing for the populace. If the average nigerian cannot afford to get a house in Abuja that isn't a megacity, how will they be able to do so in this proposed city? |
