OCCUPY EDHA ANTI-OVER TAXATION RALLY 2012 Event for Edo Political Forum

Dear Members of EPF and Edo People,

I have the mandate of the Group to declare OCCUPY EDHA ANTI-OVER TAXATION RALLY from Monday 10th of December, 2012 between 8.00am to 4.00pm every working day till whenever our four-point demands are met.

The four-point demands are as follows:

1. UYI IGBE THE SPEAKER OF THE ASSEMBLY TO RESIGN FOR ALLOWING A BILL TO PASS WITHOUT CONSULTING WE THE PEOPLE

2. PHILLIP SHUAIBU THE LEADER OF THE HOUSE TO RESIGN FOR SPONSORING THIS DRACONIAN BILL AND FOR ACTS, DEEDS AND WORDS UNBECOMING OF A HONOURABLE MEMBER

3. THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY MOVES A RESOLUTION ANNULLING THE BILL PURPORTEDLY PASSED BY THE HOUSE

4. THE NEW SPEAKER SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO EDO PEOPLE ON BEHALF OF THE HOUSE FOR TAKING THE PEOPLE FOR A RIDE.

STRATEGY
This is the First of a Series of Acts of Peaceful Civil Disobedience. This action shall be a joint action by Edo Youth Congress and Edo Political Forum including any other group that may join. The protest rally and occupation shall be conducted with the utmost decorum and supervised by 10 members who shall be appointed by Edo Politics, which shall include Jessica Amafe and Curtis Ugbo. The following rules shall be the 7 Commandments for the Rally:

1. It shall be peaceful and non-violent at all times - no destruction of property, no molestation of any individual and no looting.

2. Songs and Music to mock the bill, the legislators and the government where necessary may be sung but no direct insults to any individual or politician or the governor.

3. All placards, bills, signs or boards used shall not contain ethnic snags or insults to any named individual.

4.All participants shall use the sideways not the main roads and shall not impede the normal flow of traffic. We are to give heat to the legislators, not the commuters who need to survive.

5. Anyone found to be looting or molesting innocent people in the name of the demonstration shall be ostracized and punished mercilessly.

6. First Aid Box or materials shall be provided in case someone needs help and each member of the Rally Shall be the brother or sister keeper.

7. All negotiations and discussions shall be done by the House leaders with the demonstrators and not selected individuals and done publicly.

DRESS CODE: WHITE TOP/SHIRT/BLOUSE AND RED ARMBAND. EACH ONE TO MOBILIZE A MINIMUM OF TEN PERSONS TO COME ALONG


We shall make the premises our toilet and bathrooms...We shall bring our mats or sitting materials there with us. Be aware that they may release tear gasses so each one shall carry along handkerchief and a bottle of kerosene to prevent suffocation. Tear gas cannot kill and its effect would be greatly nullified using a handkerchief soaked in kerosene to cover your nose intermittently. We shall stay there until the Speaker of the House and the Majority leader resigns and the House resolves to kill the bill. I so move.

Oshiomhole is using Shaibu to get at Igbinedion. Anyway, I hope this idea of protesting peacefully will get the needed change.

Oshiomhole is not using anybody here.But Philip is only trying to test the political monkey water of Edo south.Yet the house is divided in itself.
Prognose:Uyi Igbe,the Speaker will be relieved of his position for lack of leadership,though Philip Shaibu will survive the storm.The likes of Jude Ise-Idehen,Bright Osayade and Peter Aliu should be watched.They are capable to rocking the ruling party boat right in the house.
