guys like i said before, God is a man not a male, u all are males, susceptible to sin and temptation, are ya all fellin me on this?

How do you differentiate between 'man' and 'male'?

  (a) The animals have 'males' among them; but there is no 'man' among the lot of animals.

  (b) Man and animals have 'flesh' - and both have 'males' among them.

  (c) Animals share the 'male' and 'flesh' features of human beings; but the former (animals) were not created in God's image.

From these three, would it be reasonable to -

  (a) compare God to 'man' because He is not  a 'male' (as human beings and animals have 'males' among them)?

  (b) compare God to 'man' who has 'flesh' like animals and yet God is a Spirit?

Let me reference the 'male' and 'man' verses between human beings and animals:

     # Animals and human beings have male and females among them -

Gen. 7:2 - "Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female:
and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female."

Gen. 5:2 - "Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day
                               when they were created.

      # Animals and human beings have flesh among them -

Gen. 6:19 - "And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark,
to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female."

Gen. 6:3  -  "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh:
yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years."

Is God A Man?

If God is a Man, could someone please explain this scripture for me -

Num. 23:19 - "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said,
and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

Job 33:12  -  "Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man."

We speak of God as 'He' and use the masculine pronoun 'His' - that in itself does not make God a Man. You cannot compare God to anything He has created - for He is immeasurably greater and cannot be compared with anything in the entire universe -

Isa. 40:17-18 - "All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

Isa. 46:5 -  "To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?"

kimba:

@KAG
maybe you didnt understand me, its not about a thinking pattern or whatever,

It's all about the thinking pattern smiley.

what im saying is like this: you found something you consider true, genuine and you'll want to share it with your friends, so how would you put it to them, like this, i won a scholarship, this is what im enjoying by the scholarship, this is the way if you want to win the scholarship, or if someone were to ask you, i want to become an aethist, tell me what youve been/you are enjoying, which will further encourage me to take the important step you have taken,
the reason why majority of Christians will want others to come join Christ's party is that we have something we are enjoying, that is meaningful to us and we want to share it, plain and simple.

Really? I thought it was because christians were bidden to "go share the gospel". In any case, I think the problem lies in understanding atheism. Atheism , like theism, is a position and not really a philosophical ideal; although your philosophical outlook on life can certainly be based on, or incorporate atheism. The thing is I've formed a tentative philosophical outlook on life; and the question is, would I want to try to deconvert people from their beliefs, and turn them into clones of myself?

The answer is no. From my perspective, we are all different and we all react to different ideaologies differently. So there's no need to do any converting. Another question would be, would I want to see more atheists in the world? To some extent, especially if it would help them become more empathic, and care more for the now - rather than the afterlife.

How would I go about doing that? I really have no idea, I've had no reason to try to converting anybody, besides the life of many atheists is ample enough to show that atheism can be a right way to go.

now if i win a million dollars, i should have something to show for it, as proof that ive won a million dollars and that im happier than i was before.

I already said i am happier now as an atheist, that in itself is more than enough.

another thing: after death, what next?

Cremation -if body can be found, and my wishes are followed - six feet under if my relatives wish it.

This is a part of the writings of George Carlin!

He has a very interesting view on religion cheesy

RELIGION ACCORDING TO GEORGE CARLIN

The Ultimate Bullshit by George Carlin (C) 1999

In the Bullshit Department, a businessman can't hold a candle to a clergyman.
'Cause I gotta tell you the truth, folks. When it comes to bullshit,
big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time
champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No
contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told.
Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an
invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute
of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does
not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special
place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he
will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry
forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money!
He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't
handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and
they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story.
Holy Shit!

But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when
it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried
to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and
likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried
to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look
around, the more you realize, something is bleeped up.

Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth,
poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is
definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am
not impressed. Results like these do not belong on the résumé of a Supreme
Being. This is the kind of rubbish you'd expect from an office temp with a bad
attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently-run universe, this guy
would've been out on his all-powerful ass a long time ago. And by the way, I
say "this guy", because I firmly believe, looking at these results, that if
there is a God, it has to be a man.

No woman could or would ever mess things up like this. So, if there is a God,
I think most reasonable people might agree that he's at least incompetent,
and maybe, just maybe, doesn't give a rubbish. Doesn't give a rubbish, which I
admire in a person, and which would explain a lot of these bad results.

So rather than be just another mindless religious robot, mindlessly and
aimlessly and blindly believing that all of this is in the hands of some
spooky incompetent father figure who doesn't give a rubbish, I decided to look
around for something else to worship. Something I could really count on.

And immediately, I thought of the sun. Happened like that. Overnight I became
a sun-worshipper. Well, not overnight, you can't see the sun at night. But
first thing the next morning, I became a sun-worshipper. Several reasons.
First of all, I can see the sun, okay? Unlike some other gods I could
mention, I can actually see the sun. I'm big on that. If I can see something,
I don't know, it kind of helps the credibility along, you know? So everyday I
can see the sun, as it gives me everything I need; heat, light, food, flowers
in the park, reflections on the lake, an occasional skin cancer, but hey. At
least there are no crucifixions, and we're not setting people on fire simply
because they don't agree with us.

Sun worship is fairly simple. There's no mystery, no miracles, no pageantry,
no one asks for money, there are no songs to learn, and we don't have a
special building where we all gather once a week to compare clothing. And the
best thing about the sun, it never tells me I'm unworthy. Doesn't tell me I'm
a bad person who needs to be saved. Hasn't said an unkind word. Treats me
fine. So, I worship the sun. But, I don't pray to the sun. Know why? I
wouldn't presume on our friendship. It's not polite.

Infact the more i think about this topic, the more I see that our knowledge or wisdom is nothing compared to what God has. It is possible that there could be another class of sexual group that God did not create.

This group might be the one God belongs to. A group other than male or female. Maybe this group belongs to our God alone for he is a selfish God and will not like to share certain things with man, concidering that if he allows us to have his type of gential, we will abuse it like pornography
Re: Is God Male, Female, Or Both? by 4getme1(m): 8:45pm On Apr 27, 2006
@Reverend,

So, let me guess - you were roundly ignored where you posted George Carlin's sob story earlier, and you had to bring it here. You never cease to amaze me. It is his ultimate bullshit anyways - takes nothing out of the rest us.

Lol, the hilarious words of the atheist prophet grin. I love Carlin! I remember listening to that skit a few years ago, and finding it both funny and true to some extent; still find it funny.

I dont think it's important.

it could be to the guys tho, cos they want everything to be traced back to THEM.

Well anything we can do to know God more is encouraged. However we really can't get far for just as it takes years to explain one verse in the bible multiply whatever year you have in mind by the number of bible verses. that is how long it will take man to know the core of our great God. Therefore while finding answer to such question is trival in a sense, we have to keep trucking because just as a father admires his kid learning to walk, so is God admiring how far we r trying to know him more and he will do anything for thoese who sincerely hunger to know him to the core to find answers.

However I strongly believe that God will not give us an answer to this question or introduce his sexual orgarn for man will abuse it. Even typing this alone, I am really scared because i can feel his presence but at the same time, he is my Father so i am conviced he will not punish me rather he will reveals himself to me for seeking rightfully

Well I think its important and I belive that my assertions in this thread is right because my actual name means "Mind of God"

I strongly belive that apart from male and female, there are other genders that God did not create and one of these genders is where God belong. One of these "other" genders is sole and only God has it. It might have the ability to re-create itself. No body knows but if u get closer to God, he will reveal himself to you. Guys my first book is comming out next year and even though its not religious book, it will cover a lot of ground we have over looked on earth

thats why the Bible tells us that No Man can search out Gods Understanding. The Knowledge He has given us is only how-far we would go, and once we get there, we'll begin to go round in circles.

um how about the fact that God doesnt exist
Re: Is God Male, Female, Or Both? by 4getme1(m): 7:17am On Apr 30, 2006
That's not a fact until you can prove it conclusively. That's just an opinion of those who don't believe.
Re: Is God Male, Female, Or Both? by nirron1(m): 11:43pm On Apr 30, 2006
My guy i will implore u to shun any analysis about GOD cos the more you try to do that the more you are enmeshed in confusion and controversy, Shun it guys.

Remember the saying ''the more you look, the less you see''

that establised how more you get confused when you begin to raise this type of issue about GOD.

God is a spirit so we cannot judge

He has come in many forms

He came to Abraham and Lot in form of three men

came to the world in form of a man

& He came on Jesus in form of a dove

God is a spirit

We use He , because if He aint a man

He would have made women leaders of the world

Well, but, of course, there are several women leaders past and present in the world, some of which include the following:

   ¤   Presidents -

¤  Germany - Chancellor Angela Merkel

¤  Finland - (President) Tarja Halonen

          ¤  Liberia - President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf

¤  Chile - President Michelle Bachelet

¤  Jamaica - Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller

¤  South Korea - Prime Minister Han Myung-Sook

¤ New Zealand - Prime Minister Helen Clark (1999)

          ¤ Ireland - President Mary McAleese (1997).

. . . and Sirimavo Bandaranaike who was Prime Minister of Sri Lanka for about 40 years (from 1960 to 2000). There are other women leaders in business, economics, sports, arts, academia, and so many, many others. God is a loving God and He's NOT polarised to the world of men; so, yes, He has made both men and women leaders in several walks of socio-political and economic life. I believe He's greater than the gender issue.

Reba:

What ever Mr Smaller 10 excuse me Mr Larger 20, u asked the question and then just answered it so go in peace.

I answered it based on the feedback I get from people. God is a combination of male and female but u cant really say its male or female. That he created us in his image does not mean that his image is ours, it is close but not exactly so it makes sense to say God is no man or woman, but something close to man and woman, whatever answer people give to this question is right depending on the perspective we look at it, I hope these helps

God has no gender. I mean my God. He begets nor was he begotten.
Re: Is God Male, Female, Or Both? by larger20(m): 4:02pm On May 10, 2006
Logical:

God has no gender.

U have to defend ur answer to make sense
Re: Is God Male, Female, Or Both? by Logical(m): 4:04pm On May 10, 2006
Oh my reason for saying that was its simple. Based on the revelations of the book I firmly believe in, which I believe comes from God, its stated clearly that he has no gender.

Gender only comes into question when there is pro-creation I think? When you tend to look at what God qualifies as that certain process is not required because of his associative power, and thus such conclusion can be reached that he does not need to have that part of human that indicates a difference.

In Genesis, God created man in his own image. Does this mean that God is a male? What do you think?

I didnt see, according to the "bible", what do you think? Maybe you might want to ammend that smiley

Logical when u argue things, try pointing on your disagreement and leave whoever said it. Pointing on who said it without any concrete infrigndment is not profesionl, Just a personal opinion. we r not here to fight. U have the right to accept or not,
