Re: Mtn 3g Network by DualCore1: 5:05pm On Feb 19, 2008
@Hayprof
mine had Dual Mode | UMTS | GSM
if urs is 3g compatible the UMTS option should be there, or maybe u can try dual mode. here if i put mine on dual mode is just uses gsm mode.
fact that there is a dual mode on ur phone means there are two modes, GSM and one other mode which should likely be the umts mode.

.u go think tire . . . . . .
Re: Mtn 3g Network by DualCore1: 7:14pm On Feb 19, 2008
@Hayprof
no the gsm mode isnt the umts mode. tht umts mode is hiding somewhere in ur phone, i think. whts the model of the phone.

the 3g network doesn't have a wide coverage, so i doubt if it'll be in port harcourt. its unavailable in some parts of the lag intl. airport.
Re: Mtn 3g Network by Nobody: 7:24pm On Feb 19, 2008

Re: Mtn 3g Network by dami9ja(m): 8:46pm On Feb 19, 2008

activating sims 4 3G
Re: Mtn 3g Network by jdoss: 9:48pm On Feb 19, 2008
Some of the phones that have two options can be firmware updated to show three options. The problem is that the network is telling your phone in dual mode to stay in GSM. This is because the network has not been officially launched. Once it is officially launched, the network will tell your phone to switch over to umts.

Re: Mtn 3g Network by igbsam(m): 10:23am On Feb 20, 2008
can someone help out with the difference between Dual Band and UMTS phones ? I read an article that both are 3G compatilbe so i guess the new 3G connection here should work on Dual Band phones such as Nokia 6630 or please throw more emphasis on this.

upgrading firmware might help ur phone's situation, however there's a hack to make it possible for u to swith between modes. still working on the concept.
Re: Mtn 3g Network by jdoss: 3:17pm On Feb 20, 2008
Glo is selling data cards for laptops. I picked mine up this morning, it's 30k for the card and the first month. It's 15k every month after that for 3 gigs. It takes 24hrs to activate. A word of warning though, it seems as though glo is selling data cards capable of only 1.8Mbps(can't be upgraded) and their network is 3.6Mbps.
