When Will The FG Declare Public Holidays For The Traditional Worshippers? by Clerverly: 7:32am On Dec 18, 2012 |
When will the FG declare public holidays for some of us who worship the local Deities Are we not part of this enclave called Nigeria Why must it be only the adherents of the Foreign Deities that get pacified whenever it comes to sharing of public holidays For goodness sake, Nigeria as far as the constitution permits is a secular State. This nonsense must stop forthwith or somebody will be be court soon. Going forward, we are giving Federal Govt until the 1st of September 2013 to address this marginalization or face the wrath of Ogun, Amadioha, sango, Ngene Ukwenu, Nwaji, Osun Oshogbo, Ogboni Aborigin, Arusi Okija, Nweke Ohia, Mkppurukem and other numerous gods searing to devour. Enough is Enough! 4 Likes |

.....there are more gods in yorubaland than there are days in the year. yorubas will never have to work a single day in the year but will still have many unused public holidays to carry over at end of 365days. op abeg dont start what we cant finish here.... |
Re: When Will The FG Declare Public Holidays For The Traditional Worshippers? by Alaafialoro(m): 8:15am On Dec 20, 2012 |
The reason is so obvious. Each traditional religion is independent and different from the other. Hence, each will have different day for holiday and due to the several number of traditional religions we have,we may not have up to 5 days to work in a whole year as every day would have been used for holidays. |

Alaafia l‘oro: So, why should foreign religious be declared a holiday if no indigenous deems fit. I'm a Catholic, but I think it's foolish for the government to be declaring religious celebration a public holiday. 1 Like |

donedy:I don‘t think it‘s foolish in any way. Statistically, about 90% of nigerians living in Nigeria belongs to either islam or xtianity and the other 10% belongs either traditional religion or irreligion. There‘s no crime in giving 6 or 7 days(out of 365) off for the working masses that hardly have enough time to rest going by the situation in the country. They could ve easily given holidays to the trado as well but we all know that there‘s no way they will all worship their different gods on the same day. No way! |

Fedral government should also sponsor pilgrimage to our respective villages, for the festivals. If not, stop sponsoring pilgrimage to either mecca, or Jerusalem. Christains and muslims are the problem. Metu hates foreign religions. 2 Likes |
