All members from the U. N. Security Council, with the exception of the usa, have publicly condemned Israel’s new settlement expansion activities and called to for its end. 14 of the council’s 15 members read public statements of these views instead of seeking formal action because of the council, since that likely would have been opposed by the usa.

Normally the Security Council keeps on its work around the horseshoe-shaped stand inside its chamber. But in Wednesday, 14 council members took on the microphone outside the chamber to state their condemnation of Israel’s most recent settlement expansion announcement.

Speaking for the council’s four European members, British Ambassador Mark Lyall Scholarhip told reporters the group firmly opposes Israel’s announced plans for a lot more than 3, 000 housing units in parts of the West Bank, including Distance Jerusalem, and urged Israel now to rescind its decision.
