The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the 2013 budget of N4.987 trillion as against the N4.924 trillion presented by President Goodluck Jonathan.

This represents a difference of N63 billion.

It is comprised of N387.9 billion for statutory transfers, N591.7 billion for debt services.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the budget is also made up of N2.3 trillion as recurrent non-debt expenditure, N1.6 trillion for contribution to the development fund for capital expenditure for the year ending December 31, 2013.

All unutilized capital expenditure in the 2012 budget had been rolled over to form part of the 2013 Appropriation Act.

The Deputy Speaker, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, who presided enjoined all standing committees of the House to carry out their oversight function in order to ensure full implementation of capital projects.

The spending plans assumed a 79 dollars per barrel benchmark oil price as against the 75 dollars submitted to the National Assembly by the president.

2013 budget of N4.987 trillion as against the N4.924 trillion

N4,987,000,000,000 / 160,000,000 = N31,168.75 PER CAPITA , OR $194.80 PER CAPITA

Compared to the US

Submitted February 13, 2012
Submitted by Barack Obama
Submitted to 112th Congress
Total revenue $2.902 trillion (requested)
Total expenditures $3.803 trillion (requested)
Deficit $901 billion

$3,803,000,000,000/314,970,000 = $12,074 or N1,931,866 PER CAPITA

Yet we want to develop. we are allocating what they use as tip for development.

GOODLUCK TO NIGERIA........

Re: Reps Pass 2013 Budget by udokpuenyi(m): 8:42am On Dec 21, 2012
I hope they made provision for ransome for kidnappers in that budget
because Ireland unfree is Britain unpeaceful. The successive government
of this country have subjected the citizens to torturous conditions worse than Nazi
prisoners, the monsters the created over the years have now grown and come
back haunting them day and night.

Time is running out for Nigeria, it running out fast.
Expect no positive impact from this budget apart from the looting spree and while their looting
go on, money should be set aside for the aforementioned, because a child who says that his mother
will not sleep should be ready to stay awake too.
