EMINENT Nigerians from all walks of life on Friday converged on Ilesa, Osun State, to give the renowned jurist, the late Justice Babakayode Eso, a befitting burial.

Dignitaries that graced the burial service, held at the Cathedral of Holy Trinity, Omofe, Ilesa, Osun State, cut across the nation’s judiciary, political class and economic strata.

At the event, Nigerians were urged to imbibe the virtues that the deceased exhibited while alive.

In his sermon, the head of All Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Nikolas D. Okoh, underscored the need for all categories of people, including political leaders, to eschew monetary inducements and other social vices, which he said had retarded the progress of Nigeria as a corporate entity.

While describing the late Justice Eso as a jurist of the helpless and champion of justice in all ramifications, Okoh said the only way to immortalise him was to allow justice to prevail in all situations.

Okoh called on everybody to emulate the late Eso by investing their lives and times on things that would help humanity and advance the development of Nigeria.

Eminent personalities that attended the service included the former Minister of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola; the Minister of State for Defence, Chief (Mrs) Olusola Obada; General Alani Akinrinade (rtd); Chief Olabode George and former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Emmanuel Ayoola.

Others are the host governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State; the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who was represented by his wife, Florence; former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Adeniyi Adebayo; Osun State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Titi Laoye-Tomori; governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in last year’s election in Ondo State, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), among others.
