Stroke is a disease that affects the arteries leading to and within the brain,Stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts (ruptures). When that happens part of the brain cannot get the blood (and oxygen) it needs,So it and the brain cells die.

Over the years, the stroke disease has been a catalyst to most deaths in nigeria especially with the older people.

We have two types of stroke:

(Ischemic) stroke caused either by a cloth obstructing the flow of blood to the brain while the second type of stroke ( Hemorrhagic) is caused when the blood vessel in the brain bursts, spilling the blood into surrounding tissues.

Some Factors that can lead to stroke disease at any point in your life :

- Smoking : So you love smoking but scared of getting stroke? Well smoking reduces the amount of oxygen in the body,The substance in tobacco such as "Nicotine" narrows the blood vessels which ultimately affects a major blood vessel "The aorta" which brings oxygenated blood into the brain. Restrictions in this area ends up causing Stroke,So before you pick up another stick of cigarette Think again!

- Lack of exercise: Lack of exercise can lead to hypertension and poor circulation,Both of which can be fatal and contribute to stroke.

- Excessive alcohol: It is said that more than two drinks per day raises the blood pressure .

- Diabetes

- Heart disorders

- Stress and depression

- Heredity/Genetics

Now finally The Common symptoms of Stroke:

1: Confusion or difficulty speaking or understanding.

3 : Severe headaches with no known cause.

4 : Problems with vision such as Dimness or Loss of vision in one or both eyes.
