I will like to ask if microsoft visual studio software can be used to create a desk top application software or is microsoft visual studio software meant for web application and static websites? Like somebody in the forum to provide me with useful answers

I use MS Studio to create both Desktop and Web Applications, if you want to create desktop application with it select "Windows Form" or for web Select "Asp.net Website". Takia.
