The shocking spate of insecurity in the nation is assuming a more worrisome dimension by the day as Professor Hyacinth Ngong Mbibu, Head of Department of Surgery of the largest University in Africa, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria was shot dead on Thursday evening by unknown gunmen. DailyPost gathered that the University Don was on his way home at about 8.30pm after attending to his patients at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital ABUTH, Shika, Zaria when he was attacked and killed by his assailants. It was also gathered that a ABUTH nurse whom he assisted in his car from the teaching hospital’s gate was also shot in her arm but presently on admission at the hospital. Prof Mbibu until his death was among the coordinators of the West African College of Surgeons, a Visiting Urological Surgeon, Armed Forces Hospital, a Reader, Surgery Department, ABU-Zaria , and also a Visiting Lecturer at Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
