Did Jonathan Actually Made This Statement??? by TRUTHTELA: 8:08am On Dec 31, 2012
I'm bemused and can't believe that Jonathan actually made the statement below:

President Jonathan stressed the need for attitudinal change among Nigerians for things to work and the country make progress.

His remark was provoked by the comment made by the Rt. Rev. Hyacinth Egbebo, the Catholic Bishop of Bomadi, who attributed the cause of accidents on Nigerian roads to bad roads created by corruption in government.

The president rejected the submission and instead retorted, “If Nigerians would change their attitude, you will realise that most of these issues being attributed to corruption are not caused by corruption.

“Recently, I met with officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps who told me that they had discovered that majority of the road accidents are recorded on good roads.

“So you can see it is not a matter of corruption, it is an issue of the people’s attitude.’

If Jonathan actually made the above statement, I'm giving benefit of doubt ( cos when there's so much outcry over any gaffe, they always know how to accuse the pressmen of misquoting them), then, I think people that named him RETARDEEN saw something in him.

If there's so much accident on good roads ( I don't know where the good roads are), is it not an opportunity for a President to swing into ACTION, MANDATE THE ROAD SAFETY TO ENFORCE SPEED LIMITS. GET SPEED GUNS FOR THEM, DISPLAY SPEED LIMIT SIGNS ON THE "SUPPOSED GOOD ROADS", MAKE SURE THAT CARS THAT PLY THE " GOOD ROADS MEET THE REQUIRED STANDARD, and ANY OTHER SAFETY MEASURES.

He can ask his colonial masters, Sir, HOW COME YOU HAVE GOOD ROADS and ROAD NETWORKS, YET, YOU DON'T RECORD THE AMOUNT OF ACCIDENTS I RECORD ON MY OWN GOOD ROADS??

I still couldn't believe he said this and some junior RET@RDS were supporting this DUMB statement. With this statement from Jonathan and his Road Safety, Nigeria has OFFICIAL GONE TO THE DOGS!!!!!!!!!!

Endemic and institutional Corruption is bound to RUB OFF on the citizens, hence, the " ATTITUDE" ( anything goes).

You're so on point. And to think some people on this forum defended that statement makes me want to pick up a gun and blow off someone's knee cap. In developed countries a leader would never open his mouth and spew this kind of crap. Later his kinsmen will tell us not to insult him. This man is an insult to all Nigerians

My prayer is this, O God help us not to ever make this type of mistake. A president with all the 'best brains'? Working for him never make a reasonable statement. Its a PITTTTTTTTY

Its easier for him to pass the blame on the common man's attitude forgetting that the common man's attitude developed because laws are not implemented especially where the rich and famous are concerned. If the police cant enforce laws on all citizens, what is the IG still doing in office. When Goverment official convoys overspeed, beat traffic lights, drive on the wrong lane and nothing happens, when government ministers are accused with evidence of corruption and nothing is being done about it.

How will the common man show a responsible attitude?
