Very well. Thanks alot. Im very sorry i could have been more specific. Could you try using the €-N argument? I'm sure you must be familiar with it because from what I've seen, I must confess all my mathematical problems died when I found this link.

ok...uwc.man...whats €-N...?. sir ...
i probably don't know it.

Arithmetic: @boss, (b), can be solved also by DE MOIVRE'S Theorem... My opinion.

yes...my guy....

use it lets see.

pls help solve this WAEC question
make q subject of formula;
a/p - b/q = c

I've tried, bt my answer doesn't correspond with the one at the back of the textbook

Cheap.
Step1----add b/q to both sides and subtract c from both sides
U will have--- a/p - c = b/q

Step2------ take LCM of left hand side
U will have--- (a-cp)/p = b/q

Step 3------ take inverse of both sides
U will have--- p/(a-cp) =q/b

Step 4--- multiply both sides by b
Final ans----- q = bp/(a-cp)

Preboy the workings are here. Initially missunderstood the question

a/p - b/q = c,
a/p - c = b/q,
(a-pc)/p = b/q,
q(a-pc) =bp,
q= bp/(a-pc)

a/p - b/q = c,
a/p - c = b/q,
(a-pc)/p = b/q,
q(a-pc) =bp,
q= bp/(a-pc)
wow kul method, just solved it though my method is way longer and different

a/p - b/q = c
qa - bp/pq = c
qa - bp = cpq
qa - cpq = bp
q(a - cp) = bp
q = bp/a- cp

I am thinking of a 6-digit number. The sum of the digits is 43 and only two of the following three statements about the number are true:

1.It is a square number
2. It is a cube number and
3. The number is under 500000

Also tell me which of the statements are true and give ur answer!

_>>>>>>_____SOLUTION_________<<<<<<<<_

By roots of cubic equations of the form

px3 +qx2 +rx + s = 0 , for a=/= 0

sum of roots (a +b+c) = -q/p

sum of product of roots (ab + ac + bc ) = r/ p

product of roots ( abc) = - s/a

thus we have

a+b+c = -2/√2 =-2√2/2 = -√2

ab+ac+bc= 3√2/√2 =3

abc =5/√2 = 5√2/ 2

that's it sir.

Correct!

What about this?

Please help me solve these question with clarity

1. Find the total surface area of a solid hemisphere of diameter 6.6

2. A solid is made up of a cylinder with a hemisphere on top. Calculate its surface area.
3. Find the volume of a given triangular prism with a right-angled triangle 9cm by 12cm by 16cm and length 18cm
4.how many tiles each of side 8cm are needed to tile a floor 22m 40cm long by 12m 80cm wide
5.a rectangular pool 10m by 5m is surrounded by a path 1m wide. What is the area path ... Please show workings in all

Kovic08: Please help me solve these question with clarity

1. Find the total surface area of a solid hemisphere of diameter 6.6

...Please show workings in all
Total surface area of a sphere = 4Πr²@
An hemisphere contains half of d total surface of sphere + a circle
i.e surface area of hemisphere = [(4Πr²)/2] + Πr²
= 2Πr² + Πr² = 3Πr²
since diameter = 6.6 units
radius = 3.3 units
therefore, total surface area = 3×Π×3.3²
= 102.68 sq units
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Drniyi4u(m): 7:11pm On Aug 27, 2014
Kovic08:
2. A solid is made up of a cylinder with a hemisphere on top. Calculate its surface area.
... Please show workings in all
for a joined hemisphere nd cylinder,
curved surface area of hemisphere = 2Πr²
curved surface area of cylinder = 2Πrh (where h=height of d cylinder)
area of base circle of d cylinder = Πr²
therefore, total surface area = 2Πr² + 2Πrh + Πr²
= 3Πr² + 2Πrh
= Πr(3r + 2h)

3. Find the volume of a given triangular prism with a right-angled triangle 9cm by 12cm by 16cm and length 18cm
are u sure of d dimension of triangle "9 by 12 by 16"? d combination can never form a right angled triangle, I guess d 16 should be 15. If so,
volume of a solid shape = base(triangular) area × height
= (½*9*12) × 18
=972cm²
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Drniyi4u(m): 7:36pm On Aug 27, 2014
Kovic08:
4.how many tiles each of side 8cm are needed to tile a floor 22m 40cm long by 12m 80cm wide
... Please show workings in all
N.B 100cm = 1m
I guess d tile is a square tile
To calculate d number of tiles, U'll calculate d area of d floor, then divide it by d area of d tile
In calculating d area of d floor, U'll make use of just a unit (I'll use cm)
length of floor = 22m40cm = 2240cm
breadth of floor = 12m80cm = 1280cm
Area of the floor = 2240 × 1280 cm²
Area of tiles = 8 × 8 cm²
Therefore number of tiles = (2240×1280)/(8×cool
=44800 tiles

16m2

total dimension is 11m by 6m
total area = 66m2
area of the pool= 50m2 (from d dimension 10m by 5m)..

Area of the lawn = 66m2-50m2 =16m2

checking dat question properly, two rectangles are involved, one with dimension 10m by 5m, the other rectangle(considering the path) with dimension (10+1)m by (5+1)m

To calculate d area of d path, U'll subtract d area of d smaller rectangle from d larger one

Area of smaller rectangle = 10m × 5m = 50m²
Area of larger rectangle = 11m × 6m = 66m²
therefore, area of d path = 66 - 50m² = 16m²

IMO tho, I think the length and breath of the larger rectangle should be 12m and 7m respectively,since the path covers all the 4-sides,therefore it adds 2m to the length and the breath...
