Kovic08: Thanks man please can you cross check that number one workings very well.. Buh the rest are perfect kudos to you smurfy.. and please i don't know anything about polygons.please can you teach me. Here in one page thanks.. More questions to come..am learning ( i hope we have physics and chemistry clinic)
you can start it bro by opening a thread or 2 to that effect..i will definitely subscribe to it.. Just announce it here and some other threads to pull traffic

In addition,

for every polygon, the interior angle(i) and the adjacent exterior angle(e) are supplementary. I.e i + e = 180;

more so, the size of each angle of a regular polygon is given as
i = [(n - 2) x 180] / n.

My own little contribution. You guys are doing a wonderful job here. Weldone.
smurfy:

OK.

Polygon

Polygons are plane shapes bounded by straigjt lines. The simplest polygon is the triangle. Then we have quadrilaterals (4-sided). Then we have pentagons (5-sided) etc.

Regular Polygons

Regular polygons have equal sides and angles. Examples are equilateral triangle, square, regular pentagon, regular hexagon, regular heptagon, regular octagon, regular nonagon, and regular decagon.

Finding Sum of Angles

The formula is...
Sum of angles = (n - 2) * 180, where n is the number of sides or angles. The formula works for all polygons.

If given the exterior angle of a REGULAR polygon, then number of side equals 360/&, where & is the exterior angle.

benbuks: the ratio of the ages of two brother sola and femi is 3:4 in six years time the ratio of their ages will b 5:6 .how old are they now?

Here goes...

Let their present ages be x and y respectively.

From first sentence,
x/y = 3/4
or 4x = 3y or x = 3y/4 eqn (*)

From second sentence,
(x+6)/(y+6) = 5/6 or 6(x+6) = 5(y+6)

Simplifying...
6x + 36 = 5y + 30
6x = 5y - 6 eqn (**)

Solving (*) and (**) simultaneously gives
x = 9, y = 12

Sola and Femi are 9 and 12 years old respectively.

Find the set of values of k for which ABSVAL[(x - 4)(x + 2)] = k has four solutions.

Somebody should please mama this tricky question.

Triangle ABC has AC = BC, <ACB = 96 degrees.
D is a point in ABC such that <DAB = 18 degrees and <DBA = 30 degrees.
What is the measure (in degrees) of <ACD?

The correct answer is 0 < k < 9.

It's essential you make a sketch first. Thanks detj4u and benbuks for your efforts.

How many integer values of x simultaneously satisfy the following two inequalities:

x + 9 > 2x - 3,
x^2 </= 7x + 60?
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by mathefaro(m): 11:10am On Aug 30, 2014
11, if we want to consider positive integers alone but otherwise, I'm afraid that will be infinity o. I stand to be corrected though.

The question is asking for integral values only. Are you willing to trash it?

ugonna1054: Some one help me pls.....what is d integral of. 5/x^2.....and prove dat integral of secxtanx=secx..

ok..

$5/x2 dx = $5x-2dx

=> 5 $x-2 dx = -5x-1 + k

= -5/x + k

known that integration is the anti. of differentiation

sec x = 1/cosx using quotient rule

(vu' - uv ' )/v2

put 1= u u'= 0
& cosx =v v'=-sinx

say f(x) = secx

we thus have

f '( x) = [0 -(-sinx) ]/ cos2x

=> 1/cosx * sinx/cosx

hence we have secx.tanx ..................( as expected )
