For me, I'll rather we scrap the senate and retain the NASS. instead of having the FG pay the reps, let each state pay their reps.

This way, states can pay whatever they can afford to their reps. (I see Ekiti, Ebonyi and Zamfara paying their reps 200k/month if they are serious about allocating money for development).

I know it seems impossible in Nigeria but we don't need the senate. NASS is enough.

This will be a welcomed development if it will ever materialize.

Thanks...

But I don't think we need to have another nation be practicing this model before we know it will reduce waste in government..

Good on paper, silly in practice. Senate is there for minority. A highly populated state like Lagos has same number of senators with Bayelsa.
Slash their salaries and allowances drastically, then publish the salary structure of political office holders for public consumption. That's the solution.

How can you scrap the senate? The senate wield so much power and influence than the reps, and by virtue of the constitution, "depending", they're are the ONLY ones who has overriding authority to veto the president on serious issues such as treaties and war. So how can you scrap it?

If waste is the problem, let each state foot the salaries and admin expense of their reps and senators, while operating expense can be incurred on federal accounts. However, as for scraping the senate, can NEVER and will NEVER work, instead you will scrap the reps and let them return back to their states.

The reason for scrapping the senate is because Democracy doesn't need NASS and senate to be. NASS is closer to the people than senate.. Senate is a waste.

If truly Nigerian Senate is more powerful than NASS, that's fukd up still.. Because Senate is more of a State representation while NASS is constituency representation.
And constituency repping is more democratic than state repping... So I say scrap the senate not the NASS..

Will democracy be threatened if senate is scrapped? How? Answer this question honestly and you may arrive at the conclusion that senate is wasteful..
