Folks, it all depends on who you're talking to, the cost of fencing as well as the quality of fence you get. I have two properties in Nigeria and, trust me, you could pay 1.4 and the other guy pays .6 or even lesser for thesame quality or maybe,more often than not, for a lesser quality.

I think that, the bottom line is, "shop around". Do your home work, be careful, some folks are unable to deliver, not because, they're fraudulent, but because, they underestimated the ACTUAL cost of the job, once again, just chop around

For the contractors on here, please play safe with each other, ever wonder why you have different names? because, you're very different people with different price, if A says, I'm do it with 1.4, "B" thinks he could do it lesser?, please show us how, without attacking the other guy, lets safely brainstorm.

@ James1, Its damn IMPOSSIBLE to put up Fencing 2 plots of Land at the cost of 500k. If you are very sure of yourself why cant you post the breakdown of how you can achieve that with 500k which includes the costs of all the materials needed and workmanship.
@ Ajileko, i quite agree with your figure on the subject matter, am aware that one would need btw 6,000-7,000 pieces of 9inches block (depending on the height) to executive the fencing at the cost of N120 per one which would amount to 720,000k, also you'l ned about 6 loads Sand and about 80-90 bags of Cement and workmanship, put all these 2gether and tell me whether you wont even exceed 1.4m Ajileko quoted or not.
For somebody to come out boldly on this forum and said he can execute this project with 500k amount to a ploy to defraud fellow Nairalanders. Also, anyone that fall prey to such sweetmouthed fraudsters is equally a big thief themselves.

@naijacann,

@ajileko
You're absolutely dead on and correct on your 1.4m naira quote.
I just fenced my 2 plots ( 100 by 100 dimension) in owerri and it cost
me about 1.5million, including the 250k my builder charged me. It was
9 couches after DPC. My gate cost me around 50k and i so love its greenish to black

I need a gate for the house I'm building at Owerri, see https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-397598.0.html. Please give me the contact information of the company that sold one to you. If possible, send the picture(s) of the available gates as well. Email ruapps at hotmail.com . Thanks.

@ajileko

You can never fence 2 plots of land with that amount. I just did 2 plots down in Ajah, and the below are the broken cost

1500 pieces of 9x9 blocks = 225,000 (the 9x9 will be used for the base up to 4 coaches)
4000 pieces of 6x6 block = 480,000
120 bags of cement = 216,000
4 trucks of sharp sand = 80,000
1 truck of granite = 150,000 (the granite is for the pillars since the place is muddy)

this alone, minus the cost of woods that would be used for rough carpentry, about 40 rolls of 12mm steel, labor, transporting materials, water and S&A (supervision & admin) = #1,151,000
The poster should be note this. You are definitely going to spend about 1.5million for the fencing minus getting a gate, and even the gate price depends on quality.

from foundation to roofing pls.
thanks for your help
Re: Cost Of Fencing 2 Standard Plots Of Land by Nobody: 11:17pm On Feb 14, 2010
Work would be broken down into 4 levels.

1. Foundation work:
plan digging = #50,000
pvc work; 2,000 pieces of 9x9 blocks = #300,000
4 trucks of sharp sand @ 20k per 1 = #80,000
2 trucks of dagbolu @ 20k per 1 = #40,000
2 trucks of gravel @ 30k per 1 = #60,000 (You dont need granite since its bungalow, you just spend enough on pillars)
60 bags of cement @ 1800 per 1 = #108,000
60 rolls of 12mm @ 1500 per = #90,000 (you need to use iron because you want a solid structure)

2. Mansory work:

5000 blocks = #750,000
200 bags of cement = #360,000
like 40 pieces of 1x2 = #60,000 (for rough carpentry work, a house must be built for the iron and the concrete would be poured in to make pillars and lintels)
15 trucks of sharp sand = #300,000
5 trucks of gabolu = #100,000

The 3 is the Utilities work which includes: roofing, electrical, plumbing, smooth carpentry etc.
The 4 is the finishing works which includes, plastering, painting, landscaping, etc,

Send me an email: adetund19@yahoo.com you attach your house plan to me or you can meet one of AASOG's architect and we can put down any design you want.
The the above is a little break down of about 70% of the entire site work.

Re: Cost Of Fencing 2 Standard Plots Of Land by Nobody: 12:10pm On Feb 15, 2010
Dagbolu is totally different from sharp sand. Masons usually request them because its usually mixed with sharp sand and cement when setting blocks.
It gives the entire mixture a rather sticky feel, and makes block setting a lot more clean and nice. In most cases where you notice the block settings dont really look so clean, or somewhat very rough, its not really a problem. The bricklayer simply used sharp sand, and sharp sand becomes a lot less attractive between settings whenever it rains. I will email soon sir.

This is a old post but it is important to state that the number of pieces of block stated is wrong. One plot of land require 2160 blocks (https://www.propertypro.ng/blog/cost-of-fencing-a-plot-in-nigeria/). However 2 plots is either 120ft by 120ft or 240ft by 60ft. If its 120ft by 120ft, using all four side it gives total length of fence of 480ft. When you convert this to inches (480 x 12), it is 5760 inches. Using the dimension of a standard block of 18" by 9". So a single line or coach of block that will go round the entire fence is 5670"/18" = 320 blocks.

For the first 4 coaches or rows of 9x9" (high) blocks stated, the total number of blocks for those 4 coaches will be 1,280 blocks (i.e. 4 x 320). The height of the 4 coach will be 36" or 3ft. That mean you need additional 4ft of fence to make it to the needed 7ft.

For the 6x6" block which is to be used for remaining 4ft or 48" of the fence, divide 48" by 6" = 8. That mean you need 8 coaches of the 6x6"blocks for this section of the fence. This translate to a total of 2,560 of the 6x6 blocks.

So you only need:

-1,280 pieces of 9x9" blocks (for the base of 4 coaches)
-2,560 piece of 6x6" blocks (for the remaining section of the fence above the 4 coaches base)

The higher the number of plots of land to fence the lower the unit cost per plot. Even with the dimension of the
