Nigerian Student To Be Part Of Obama's Inauguration Ceremony In Washinton . by Slim101(m): 11:45pm On Jan 20, 2013 |
A University of Minnesota Crookston student will be part of President Obama's inauguration festivities on Monday. Abbey Wemimo is senior at UMC and he's been invited to Washington to volunteer in preparations for the ceremony. Wemimo, who is an International Student from Lagos (lived in Maryland Housing Estate), Nigeria worked on Obama's presidential campaign. He recently submitted an application to be a part of Monday's event and was accepted. He says he has been inspired by Barack Obama's achievements, and being at the Inauguration is something he can tell his grandchildren about. Abbey doesn't yet know what duties he will be performing for the swearing in but says he will be at Monday's speech. Source: http://www.wdaz.com/event/article/id/16058/

I posted this article in order to encourage our youths to be focused and aim high in whatever their dreams may be. I lived with this young lad in Maryland Housing Estate, Lagos before he left for his studies in the US and I've always known that he had that drive to excel in him. I was happy (but not too surprised) when I came across this article online. I wouldn't mind if the moderator can forward this to the front page so that more of our youths can be mentored by it. I also think we need more encouraging articles like this to lift our spirits. Thanks. 1 Like |

Lol, Slim, is that you? This is eyonigger, Wemimo's big cousin. Never knew you were on NL. Anyways I could figure out that this thread was not posted to the front page. NL is like Nigeria Politics, excessive irrelevancies, so am not surprised this kind of sensible thread wasnt posted on the Front page. Am proud of my boy. Holler @yaman!! |

Thanks dude, it's definitely Slim. How you dey? Of course it's obvious Nairaland and her mods would prefer to run vain threads like 'Terry G Backing a Baby' , 'Mercy Johnson Poses with Black Bag' or 'Tonto Dike buys Popcorn' on their front page than serious motivating and modelling threads like this one (though one gotta give them a benefit of doubt sometimes) So the mods have surely not disappointed me. Sure we should be proud of Wemz, he's a go-getter. Don't have your BBPIN again o! |
