The Kano state government has announced the ban on the use of motorcycles (Okada) for transporting passengers in the state. Information reaching informationnaija.com from the Commissioner for Road is saying that this order to Ban the use of Okada for carrying passengers in Kano is likely to be connected with the failed assassination attempt on the life of the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero. Long overdue. Okada was a menace in the city. Kudos to the governor for rising above cheap populism to do what is right. |

Okada has been partially or fully banned in many states including the states in Igbo land. I guess the Lagos State ban drew rile of the people because of the toilet paper treatment Fashola gave the Okada operators in Lagos State. Fashola fully used the services of okada operators in Lagos State during the electioneering campaigns only to drop them like a hot sack of potatoes as governor.
