Kidnapped Bayelsa Speaker’s Mother Regains Freedom by touchmehard: 5:18pm On Jan 22, 2013
The 78- year-old kidnapped mother of the Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Kombowei Benson, has been set free by her abductors.Information Nigeria gathered that Madam Betinah Okunwa Benson was freed  at about 10pm last night after eight days in kidnappers’ den.

It would be recalled that Madam Benson was kidnapped at her country home Korokorosei in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State a week ago by about 10 gunmen in two speed boats who later demanded N40million Naira ransom for her freedom.

But, spokesman for Mr. Kombowei Benson, Preye Kariamo, who confirmed the release of the aged woman, said she was handed over to members of her family by the officials of Sagbama Local Government Council hale and hearty but however denied payment of ransom.

“No ransom was paid to secure her release. She is hale and hearty and has re-united with her Children” he said.

It's high time Nigerians stopped this kidnapping business. It doesn't pay. It only brings anguish and agony to the victims and their family members. We need to have a re-think, it's unfair!
