Mehn to all those say zambia beat civ last year let me try and break it down a bit zambia reached the finals of the afcon 2012 with 60% hardwork and 40% luck mean while civ got there through 80% hard work and 20% luck. Every body was expecting civ to clinch this one cause they had been so good and all. now after trying so hard to get there the zambians suddenly got it into their head as in "hey we can win this" so wat happens they put their all out and they hold civ through 120 minute of play in which both sides could have easily scored but no penalties. Now lets be logical penalty is any ones game and this time it was zambia's. Now on paper civ is tha best team at afcon 4rm the games they played so far that i've seen they are fluid and very very good with this in mind i actually worry 4 naija

Is safe to say west Africans are the best in the continent. Almost every west african countries qualified and the ones that did not qualify was only because they went against another superior west african teams.

Is time for one of us to drive it home. It has been a long time. Personally as a Ghanaian, I would want Ghana to win but if we can't I would support any west african team to bring it home. One luv

Nothing will make me more happy than to see Ghana and Nigeria duke it out in the final. My nigerian friends and I are planning a viewing party if it comes through. The trash talk is going to be insane. I hope this dream of my comes through

Hmmmm... If you say in this current tournament, that's an ok, but in the continent? Its like saying Chelsea is the best team in Europe because they won the last championship or the EPL is the best league because they have 4 representatives in the tournament each yr. The last W/African team to win the AFCON is Nigeria in the year 1994.

So Victor Moses postponed our exit. Perhaps to make it a very embarrassing one because I don't see how this team will not be spanked by Ivoriens by at least 3 - 0! Nigeria's worst defeat in 20yrs beckoning!

Football is not mathematics. Ivory Coast should not expect to come and 'walk over' Nigeria just because they have some decent players in the squad. Over confidence may just be their undoing in this tournament just like in the recent past two editions. Nigeria should pick up the video of their encounter against Egypt at the quarterfinals in Angola three years ago. What we need to display is pure grit, focus and strong mentality.

Yeah, I just checked it out. Those guys are hilarious.

Super Eagles have a history of defying the odds. Here are some examples:
Nigeria 3-2 Spain (1998 World Cup). The SE were the rank underdogs in this match as the Spanish team had some players that won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid about 3 weeks before the match.

Nigeria 2-1 Cameroon. The Indomitable Lions (lol) were the overwhelming favorites to win this game, they even took the lead. But the Nigerians fought back and eventually won the game.

Nigeria 0-1 Argentina. Despite the loss, the game wasn't the massacre that most people thought it would be, due to the presence of Lionel Messi and other top Argentine players (Milito, Veron, Higuain etc). The Argentine forward line had scored close to 90 goals amongst themselves in the preceding European season.

Let's just hope we don't have to play Ivory Coast. Otherwise, we might as well forfeit.

Tonight's display was terrible. We didn't even deserve to win. Luckily Victor Moses was there to win and convert those penalties.

Now what we need to focus on is our midfield. Hope fully Fegor Ogude will NEVER see the field again. Even Mikel was useless. Why not put Ogeny Onazi on instead, or Obiorah Nwankwo?

And what of Reuben Gabriel? Certain people on this board were ranting and raving about him.

Also, Ideye Brown should partner Emenike upfront. They worked well together in the opening match.

guy as much as i would want to say shut up, i'll refrain from doing such.

from your comment it's quite obvious you didn't watch the match coz if you did you won't be spewing this trash. as far as afcon 2013 is concern this was our best outing. The midfield was superb though there's room for improvement(in terms of linking with the attack).

And mind you fengor is naija's gattuso if i most say, forget the yellow card and see the way he fights for every ball..

Someone was even insulting sunday mba, mind you the dude was creative better than igiebor. Had a good shot at goal. And was open to passes.

Gej is really trying most coz Nigerians don't appreciate anything

Well genetically speaking, such is to be expected. Soccer or football as you people call it, is a sport built primarily on the basis of speed, power as well as intellect, and it's well known that West Africans and people of west African descent are the fastest, strongest and smartest people of the continent.
