Should Nigeria Break Up? by Danielh(m): 11:24pm On Jan 28, 2013
Is our breakup long overdue,or are we an entity sitting on a keg of gunpowder waiting to explode...Ironically 2014 will mark the 100th year of our ''HETEROGENOUS marriage'',which has resulted in countless sweet and sour tales for the nation at large..Images of coup, backstabbing, high corruption rate, amongst other vices are deeply mired in our shared history...Enough cannot be said of the Seccesion war that many still feel irked both by what led to the war and the outcome in general..The image of the nation has been inappropriately laundered by some fraudulent citizens hence earning us a dictionary entry word (NIGERIAN SCAM)...The future looks gloomy from the happenings of the past and the major wealth is been shared by a minute set of insensitive people...The issue of religion is also a topic that plays a prominent role in whether people deserve to live or not,,people take innocent lives all in the name of religion, and i begin to wonder 'Can we fight for God'..Religion being the opium of the masses has left many brainwashed and at the mercy of individuals that are business oriented claiming to be servants of the most high..And you begin to wonder at the level of poverty that has made people resort to miracles instead of working hard and then God blesses..N.B:miracles still exist ,but not taking paracetamol when you have an headache but you fast for hours hoping for a miracle in the fast to cure the headache, damn, that is something else....And all we are left of as reminders of our dear nation is a country that cannot fend for its citizens...then i propose everyone should go on his own way,,therefore implementing the Aburi accord in the full scale of things...Im Speaking as a detribalised nigerian.....

Sorry to say this bro,Break up? Are u smoking weed? Honestly speaking breaking up would have sound quite nice, considering the neferious activities of "islamist" but the facts remain factual... The political and geographical entity Nigeria if split will only trigger an algorithm of continous multi-enthnic seccessions and thus an economic, political and diplomatic disaster!!! .
Now heres the big fish-
if nigeria splits then we will have:
*north and southern nigeria
+ the northern part will diffinitely go on a "jihad¿" after which will warrant divisions of the islamist into two country:
*- the islamic republic of Northen nigeria
and perharps *+the shia muslim republic of northen nigeria

the south: the ibgos,yorubas,ijaws,efik,itsekiri etc
the ibgo will complain yoruba dominance in govt and military high ranking officials thus demand their own country:

*biafra
with the secession of ibgo the southern nigeria's minor ethinicities will sense spirit of oppression, thus demand seccesion, wel it just kip going until our 160 milion populs turns to only a battalion of hunger striken famine plucked citizens . . . . . . .watch out for season 2!
Just and opinion though!

One Nigeria is what our founding fathers fought for! " the labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain" . GOD BLESS NIGERIA! Long live Gej! Long live FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, long live NL.

Breaking up will not solve the problem on ground. I think understanding one another and living in unity is the best.

even if Nigeria divides into micro groups,is non of my business,i want a situation that every individual will be happy where ever he find himself.Nigeria is never accepted to be at the beginning it was just forced to be one country by the British. There has been regional and tribal problems since then so there is no way Nigeria will divide and all of them will have bad reputation as it is now.Even if Nigeria divide into South and North,i dont think there will be much problem,to be sincere Northerners is the problem of Nigeria and they are the one that kept us stand still because of their religious believes

When something is not working out as planned,do you propose patching things up and moving on as in all is well when all is definitely not well,,in that case we are just shooting ourselves in the foot, even marriage counsellors advice that when things are not the way its supposed to be in a marriage(domestic violence and sorts),,then the earlier you opt out the better....PATRIOTISM runs a country,in a case where that is totally lost, then we have a big problem on our hands..Let the ones that share a different view about how their country can be run,let them take over the helm of their affairs..
The problem you highlighted equally reared its head in the formation of the Ussr, and even without even facing little of the issues we face, each of them went their separate ways, and they are even better of than they were before,a classic example is Czech republic, among-st others...The part that feels it is their birthright to rule, leave them and let them rule themselves, the part that feels they are being cheated out in the grand scheme of things, let them go and lets see how well they will fare, afterall with a determined mind and patriotism, there is nothing one cant achieve...You cant live and coexist peacefully with a man that your ideals and ideas are totally different..We have tried to understand one another but it seems whatever good anyone has will always be miscontrued into favouring his own ethnic group,,so what are we talking about in UNITY...
If GEJ sends troops to borno with a directive like the one obasanjo gave on the ODI people in bayelsa, the north will claim the president is making a calculated vendetta on them, and by so doing we have more problems and political quagmire, and if he adopts a diplomatic move to solve the issue,,he will be termed as a dull president with no action....Please this unholy alliance should quickly be dispersed, for the good of all invoved...

There is no way you can force everyone to understand one another and live in unity when we have nothing in common. Enough of this forced unity. Break up the solution

Not so certain whether or not a break up will solve any problem but we need to sit and discuss every parameter that defines our present 'union'. If its not working and a breakup is the only way to keep us happy, then so be it. Just like some marriages, no matter how beautiful they look on the outside, should end. A divorce IMO is better than a marriage that constantly keeps the couple in agony

If you are not making PROGRESS ,then you're RETROGRESSING". If Ghadaffi, an outsider, could read between the lines and see that Nigeria, hasn't WORKED, IT'S NOT WORKING AND IT WILL NEVER WORK. I don't know how any SANE man could think otherwise. He told you guys to STOP PLAYING THE OSTRICH and GO YOUR SEPARATE WAYS. Maybe it will take another Sudan type of CONFLICT, before the West ( CREATORS OF NIGERIA), will now say YES, they can't live together.

The only think keeping the amalgamation together is OIL ,OIL, & OIL and the ROGUES LOOTING the Country, "LOVE THE COUNTRY SO MUCH" so, they will NEVER support anything called DISINTEGRATION.

Yes, Nigeria should break up. The north is a load of dead weight, and anchor upon the Southern Engine of the nation.
