Igp/police Service Commission In Promotion Imbroglio. by saved: 11:03am On Feb 02, 2013
Information gathered from a reliable source at FHQs showed that the Inspector General of Police and The Police service commission were involved in promotion bruhaha of Ranks and Files (constable, corporal & sergeant). It was reliably gathered that Promotion of junior police personnel was approved and delivered to Fast runners (police courrier), who had been in Abuja since Tuesday, 29th Jan.,from different state commands got the promotion document and headed back, delivered the goodnews as expected. The junior ranks were jubilant by friday 1st of feb. But, the joy, hope, aspiration, zeal, morale were all dashed when another signal was sent by FHQs by same friday afternoon suspending the promotion indefinately. The irony of the whole scenerio is that, the senior officers promoted themselves without any rancour nor suspension about a fortnight ago but, the junior ranks, who are the ones doing the real job are being denied entitlement, promotion or upliftment. Majority of the junior ranks have been stagnated for more than seven years without promotion. Whereas, the senior officers promote themselve nearly every sixth month. We know there are some bad eggs within the police but, should we allow those working deligently despite low pay compare to that of Army, civil defence, even prison service. Lack of equipment, inadequate &dilapidated barracks be allowed to die in penury? Remember Police college ,ikeja saga is just one out of thousands of decaying police facilities and oppressed Rank and file. What is your opinion on this?
