kelch: Imagine this, the tournament started 19th of Jan,d last goal was scored by jersey number 19 on a sunday by a sunday & we won it after 19yrs.
This is the story of a young boy whose parents were murdered during 2002 riots in Kaduna. He was aged 11 years at the time. His parents, Mr Austine and Mrs Josephine Moses, were missionaries until they met their untimely death. The boy left his house to play football but returned home to see that all his parents had laboured for had been razed down and he would never see his mother and father again.
He was taken to London by his uncle almost immediately after the incident. While in London, he began deploying his football skills. Though his parents were murdered, his passion for football was never killed. He played football for his school and later for a local Tandrige League club until Crystal Palace FC approached him. From that point, his career progressed in leaps and bounds.
This player played for England's under 16, 17, 19 and 21 teams between 2005 and 2010 scoring 11 goals for England during this period. He later moved to Wigan Athletic and now he plays for Chelsea. This footballer is called VICTOR MOSES.
His story is a touching one, I share his pains. I also share his courage. He had a choice not to step into Nigeria again but he didn't take that option. When the call to serve his fatherland came, Moses dumped England and embraced Nigeria... That is patriotism!
Today, we see a Victor Moses bringing joy to every Nigerian including those who may have inspired his parent's death... That is Love!
On Sunday, Moses would stand for the National Anthem and pledge allegiance to a country that couldn't defend his parents... That is faith!
Moses would deliver the "African Cup of Nations" trophy to Nigeria not minding what had happened in the past... That is forgiveness! Moses rose through bitterness and despair to the limelight of hope and courage.
He never gave up on his country. He persevered... That is purpose!
If someone like Victor Moses, despite the bitter past, never gave up on Nigeria, then why should we?

Man, your write-up is exceptional, simply a masterpiece. Moreso, that it is drawn directly from a real time, real life event. This piece deserves a national publication or publicity of some sort. I am further inspired to believe more in Nigeria and never give up on her, so help me God.

ORJI UZOR KALU IS A FOOTBALL WIZARD, I AM SURE HE MADE HIS FIRST MONEY BY PLAYING POOL

Why Eagles Will Win AFCON ? Orji Uzor Kalu

Gold in the air, that is what former Abia State Governor, Dr.Orji Uzor Kalu sees as Super Eagles mark their Golden Jubilee at the Africa Cup Nations which is billed to open in South Africa.

The Eagles debuted in 1963 conceding a basket full of 10 goals. However, Kalu harped on a 10-year sequence that had showered luck on Nigerian soccer ever since.

He said, ?Every 10 years since 1963, something good happened. In 1973, we won All Africa Games gold.

In 1983, Nigeria won the Tessema Cup for the first time which took the Flying Eagles to the country?s first FIFA Champioship, Mexico ?83 and Stephen Keshi?s New Nigeria Bank Benin won the elusive WAFU Cup.

In 2003, Golden Eaglet ruled the world in Japan, while Enyimba made history lifting the CAF Champions league in 2003. I am sure 2013, is for the Eagles again.?

The former governor was not done. ?Imagine this, ?he explained.? When the Eagles won their first Nations Cup in 1980, their captain was a central defender Christian Chukwu.

When Keshi lifted the trophy in 1994, he was in the central defence even if he did not play in the grand finale. Now, you know Skipper Joseph Yobo?s position. Good enough, the trio would be in South Africa.?

Crystal ball, may be.

Kalu continued with his predictions and similarities, ?their is the letter ?A? Connection. Men who supervised sports at the Federal level in those years of Cup glory had ?A? as the beginning of their surname.

Paulinus Amadike in 1980, Sylvanus Akinwumi in 1994 and today, Bolaji Abdullahi. And i hope you know that Keshi and his Assistant Sylvanus Okpala also won the Nations Cup as players, ?Kalu added.

Missing the Nations Cup is also a blessing in disguise.? After 1963, the Eagles did not qualify until Ethiopia ?76. They were in the final Classification that earned them a bronze, because for the first and only time, there was no grand-finale.

After missing Egypt ?86, Manfred Hoener took them to Maroc?88, and got to the last two. In 1996 and again 1998, they were absent.

When the team returned in 2000, a golden silver followed us. Ask Victor Ikpeba and the Tunisian referee. In South Africa, after missing the last edition, all i see is the Cup,? he added.

the write up by Kelch on Victor Moses is a master piece! Inspite of the myriad problems we have in Nigeria, there is a lot to be thankful for. Thank God for youths like Victor Moses. There is still hope for Nigeria! God bless Nigeria.
