shadrach77: italy is the current world cup holder wink wink wink
spain qualified by virtue of winning the last world cup in south africa. the european champions are now italy as they played in the euro 2012 final.

If we can accomplish this feat with the jettisoning of ineffective legs and nepotism-free assembling of players of diverse footballing exposure - local teams, average foreign teams, and top foreign teams - within a relatively short time, we can achieve greater things as the team further blends into a stronger unit. In fact, some of these players like Moses are fortunate to have been exposed to a functional system early enough for proper grooming. Now just imagine how much we can accomplish if many more -possibly better- talents are assiduously developed; breeding a group of talented, technically sound footballers kept as closely knit as possible with requisite flexibility. We definitely can become a highly respected fotballing nation and possibly lift the most coveted trophy of all. However, we must work to build a formidable structure and not expect magic from the team we have been gifted with.

You are right. This is what i found on FIFA website

With Spain already guaranteed a place as world champions, Italy qualified automatically as the European representative after reaching the final of UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.

Nigeria's 1st match is against Tahiti; 2nd match is against Uruguay, and last group game against Spain.
We can have an easier time against if they (Spain) secure semifinal qualification before the last group games. cool

Good luck to the Super Eagles in June!

Table Leg :

Nonsense!
Those local wings will be clipped on the international stage ...
No african nation is near ready yet to win the make the semi-finals or win the world cup!!!

The Ghana team of 2010 wasn't better than this. (young boys from their 2009 under-20 and plus a couple of experienced players)

They were practically in semi-final until Suarez handed a goal-bound ball.

So why can't an African team make world cup semi final?

OmoEziokwu:

That's quite pessimistic. Everything happens in the mind bro. If you can think it, then you can be it.
Bro no joke, Africa is far from it!
Are we doing things the right way? the say way other non-African nations are doing it? The answer is no!
We dont even have the mind ..... Till things start changing on a large scale, Africa will always fall short on the international stage, when it comes to sports!

WE NEED GALANT STRIKERS LIKE RASHIDI YEKINI, DANIEL AMOKACHIE, AMUNIKE, ETC TO ACHIEVE THIS FEAT.

KESHI PLS SEARCH FOR MORE STRIKERS.

I am telling you that we are not ready .... to ride our luck or get there by merit!
We have a lot of work to do .......
You can say the same about Tottenham Hotspurs FC almost making the champions league last year, only to lose to Aston Villa FC, who were whipping boys in the premiership, and Arsenal nicked it in the last minute from them!
African teams need to work harder, be more disciplined, have an effective management in place and hope for better luck all round
The improvement is there but just when a team improves and achieves a great feat, the next thing that follows is a massive decline
The same Ghana team you are talking about, look at them this year? terrible .... They couldnt even keep 50% of the last squad together, and not that they are old or dead!
