Perform Or Ship Out, New Power Minister Tells TCN

Newly appointed Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, yesterday told the management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to sit up to their responsibilities or be prepared to take a bow.

In his first major public function since he assumed office at a technical retreat organised by the Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) in Abuja, Nebo said he would not accept frivolous excuses for failure from the TCN management.

The retreat was organised to review and revise the original roadmap developed in 2010, with a view to producing data which are more consistent with the current and future challenges.

“I have observed with grave concern the increasing frequency in system collapses of our grid and hereby encourage the operatives of this segment in the TCN to be extra diligent and vigilant.

“I shall not entertain frivolous reasons for continued system collapses. Owners of this process must sit up or be prepared to ship out,” he said.

The minister also expressed concern over the poor track record of project delivery across the value chain, especially in the transmission segment.
He warned that without a major shift towards improved efficiency, it could frustrate the development of a sustainable private sector-driven power market in Nigeria.

He urged the PTFP, which he described as a proven technical resource to the sector, to put in its best in order to bring out a power sector document worthy of attracting local and international acceptance, as well as participation by investors.

Nebo further stressed that as we progress towards handing over the sold assets to the successful bidders, the Distribution Companies (Discos) must sit up, adding that “any of the officers in the distribution companies found to be sabotaging the revenue collection targets of the market will be made to face the full wrought of the law.”

If Prof Nebo doesn't act fast to dismantle the CABAL and demons that have for many years SHARED nepa budget among themselves, they are strong enough to resist changes and will SURELY SABOTAGE EVERY EFFORT TO IMPROVE THE STATUS QUO.

They should privatise everything (icluding the distribution conpanies) this PHCN story in the 21st century is shameful.

In public service, antecedents are vital pointers to credibility. Nebo is credible. But bros, UNN and its rot is a primary school when compared to the principalities and powers sitted in PHCN. Am just hoping, true, just hoping he doesnt get swallowed up.

Hmmm could the problem of electricity in Nigeria have anything to do with choice of names?

ECN - Electricity Come Never
NEPA - Never Expect Power Always
PHCN - Please Hold Candle Now
And now I see Distribution Companies being called 'DISCO' any wonder the power situation in the country is like 'Disco' lights.... going off and on!

Instead they organised a retreat, prolly in a luxury hotel somewhere in Abuja, all expense paid food, accommodation, plus estacode, for non-performing people only to warn them in front of cameramen so we go feel like say ehn be bad guy.. angry

All na wash jor........

Did you read the article? Did you see anything about data collection and revising the roadmap to address the present challenges based on the data? I don't think you did.

I have seen many people, even destiny can be changed with prayer! Why are these mad nigerians still the way they are? Why not allow this to go a little further before reigning abuses on him. All of you doing (abusing) this man will never see anything reasonable in your personal endeavours. May this your abnormal trait in you continue to block you evil nigerians. Stupid. Have never seen people like this in other parts of the world.
