His crumbs-from-the-table-eaters like to describe him as “Nigeria’s Best Performing Governor.” What they don’t mention in their claims is how much money they are being paid to plant all those Akpabio this and Akpabio that in the media. What they also don’t mention is the purpose of such a media blitz in praise of Godswill Akpabio.
Any Nigerian who cares toknow will agree that Akwa Ibom State collects more money from oil allocation than any of the 36 states in Nigeria. We are talking about billions of naira per month. In the month of July, it received nearly N25 billion in federal allocations; this amount does not include the internally generated revenue of approximately N10 billion per month.
Those in Akwa Ibom who are aware of this receipts are wondering where all the money is going. Other than a few constructed roads around Uyo metropolitan area, there isnothing else that Akwa Ibom State can show for all the money it is wrecking inon a monthly basis.
One would think that with all the money, human development would be a priority; it is not. Since April 2012, salaries have not been paid to state employees. Hunger and starvation among the general population is on the rise. Poverty has become endemic in a state that takes in billions of naira, a month. Hospitals are bare and the walls are crumbling. Education is in total shambles, especially since the gimmicks which Akpabio put out to the people when he lied that education is free; it is not and what Akpabio does not tell the people is what he does with the millions of naira which Akwa Ibom State receives from the federal government for the UBE program. Anyone who makes a casual visit to Akwa Ibom will quickly find out the impact of unemployment, especially among the youths. Several youths with universities diploma are sitting at home—unemployed!
While everyday living is tougher and tougher for the masses, Akpabio is using their money to live alife-style that even the European Kings of ancient would envy, if they were to rise up from their graves to see the life-style which Akpabio is living today. First, his immediate family members—from relatives of his wife to all his brothers— are the ones that control the state economy. Anyone who is ready to secure any gainful employment must be willing to register in one cult-group or another that swear allegiance only to Akpabio;a reminiscence of the SSS and SAS Gestapo of Adolf Hitler’s era.
What many Akwa Ibom people may not know is the amount of money Godswill Akpabio spends on a monthly basis to secure favorable publicity in Nigeria. Intelligence gathering has revealed that, using Aniekan Umanah (Akpabio’s Information Commissioner) as a conduit, Akwa Ibom State pays out one billion, a month, to owners and editors of major publication establishments in Nigeria. Many of these people are officially retained as Media Consultants. Their role is to make sure that they do not allow any negative information about Godswill Akpabio to feature in theirpapers, radio, and television stations. So far, they seem to be doing a good job. Anyone who wants to put this to test should try to publish a paid advertisement that criticizes the policies of Godswill Akpabio. No major Nigerian newspaper will accept the material, no matter how much one is willing to pay. The next paragraph is going to explain why Akpabio is doing this.
Those who are close to Godswill Akpabio have confirmed that he is discretely campaigning for President Jonathan to pick him as his Vice, if he (Jonathan) is going for a second-term Or try to align with a Northern presidential candidate. Sources say the reason Akpabio is paying for a photo-opportunity with influential Nigerians, such as the recent picture of him and the Sultan of Sokoto, is a ploy to pressure those people to support his dream of becoming the next Vice President of Nigeria.
To fulfill his dream, sources say Akpabio spends at least N2 billion a month, orat least 10% of monthly gross revenue of Akwa Ibom State.
Since May 2011, when Akpabio was sworn in for another term over an election that was well known as rigged, he has handed over the day-to-day running of the state to his Deputy, Mr. Nsima Ekere and later Lady valerie, while he devotes his time to travel around the country campaigning for the VP slot. All those who are very well versed in Nigerian politics agree that Akpabio is wasting the people’s money. According to one expert inNigerian Politics, “If Akpabio thinks that he can be a Vice President by bribing his way through everything, he is deceiving himself. What the man doesn’t know is that he is just one step toprison. He is walking around now because of Immunity Clause.”

I have always laughed when these governors are praised as performing miracles . Uyo the capital city is the size of a mid sized southwestern town. Ikot ephene and ikot abasi are even smaller.also, the no of civil servant e.g teacher, lecturers, nurses and doctors is not comparable to a typical state in the southwest or south east.in uyo ,outside of ewet housing estate, it is poverty galore.there are no reasons why the Niger delta states are not looking like Dubai now considering the gigantic allocation they get from the federal government and their negligible recurrent expenditure.

The OP is a jobless maggot who's obviously never been to BOTH Lagos and Akwa Ibom to make a comparison. Fashola is the one, according to testimonies of respected media practitioners in this country, who pays crazy amounts of money for positive media coverage, in the face of the ruin him and his thieving godfather have subjected Lagos and Lagosians to. Everyone already knows that Akpabio earns less than half the N70b plus that Fashola gets in Lagos, yet, he's managed to do more than twice the work, at fantastic quality standards too!

Your maggot eaten brain cannot understand, of course, why it's next to impossible for the two highest offices in the land to go to people from the same geo-political zone, abi? Mumu of the highest order like you! Comedian oshi!

Sorry to bust your bubble, you seems not to be taking your medications.
Fashola is not getting 70 billion naira monthly and the whole world knows that except you mofo.
Even apabio is almost getting more than him.
Comparing a state of 18 million people with a one of 3 million people on the basis of collecting same revenue shows that your Education is a complete ruse.
Comparing Fashola to Apabio shows you are a complete ediot with no Cognitive skills.
In what area can the one eyed apabio beats Fashola in governance?
Let us start discussing it,
Roads? Fashola have constructed more kilometres of roads than Apabio
Health? Fashola have constructed more health facilities than Apabio, he also have a three fold of apabio's health workforce to manage translating to more money needed.
Education? Fashola completely dwarfed your hero here. In terms of Schools renovated, new schools constructed, Maintaining a qualified workforce, astutue management, Apabio is a junior to Fashola.
4. Agriculture? Fashola is currently producing more rice than your Federal government not to talk of apabio. Fisheries, apabio have never even hear that word.
Currently, all the farm centres in Lagos are wholly functional with a plethora of people making a living there
oh boy, i can go on and on. Just bring out one let me shredd it for you.

The bolden is very true , organised agriculture is dead in Akwa Ibom.
Human development is at its lowest ebb since the creation of the state.
Capital flight is highest among the state as the petrodollar finds their way from source to Germany, home of Julius Berger on monthly basis through inflated road construction figures and the elusive Olympic stadium and the white elephant Ibaka seaport.
Power supply is almost zero throughout the state as the governor knows he cannot get kick backs from investing in power facilities as he is getting massively from road construction.
Workers are groaning under massive poverty.
The free education is grossly understaffed with an average of 60 students to a class.
Graduates are hopelessly unemployed
Above all these , the praise singers are mostly based outside the state as the governor considered them more worthy to listen to than the quiet subjects at home, who he feels are not worthy or unappreciative to have him as governor so he leaves them with his deputy while dining with more worthier people in Abuja
go to Akwa Ibom and see poverty staring you in the eyes as you work through the neatly paved world class double lane roads

well, in as much as i dont support either of u after all i dont know on whose onus d main respondent is writing on. What his interest seems to be in d whole show and while he takes d whole issue more personal than it supposed. However d 2nd respondent is obviousely biased cos Lagos state budget of about 500bn is half of dt of Akwa Ibom which is about 1trn. So ur argument is baseless. I'm sorry. Meanwhile I ve not being 2 Akwa Ibom but i think Akpabio's Jingles are quite louder than his achievements. MY ultimate question 2d Author of dis piece is WHY DID U COME UP WITH THIS WHOLE SHOW of criticism and suspense. Cos its possible dt u 2have a hidden agenda

The Fulani establishment has been the driving force of our politics and has unequivocally set its agenda for the past 41 years.

Fulanis depart from a premise of greater entitlement to power in Nigeria than the rest of us. This attitude is inspired by racist-supremacist instinct similar to the Tutsi natural resentment of Hutu leadership in Burundi and Rwanda or the Tuareg rebellion against African rule in Mali and Niger from the 1960s to as recent as the mid-1990s.

The Fulani establishment could build alliances like ‘Hausa-Fulani’, ‘Muslim North’, ‘North’ or ‘Nigerian Muslims’, their game-plan has been always to secure Fulani supremacy in our polity. This politics requires that "external" enemies must always be found against which to define the common identity they seek to share with their chosen allies. Therein lies the danger of perpetual crisis in Nigeria.

And Fulani politicians are superior to their counterparts in the rest of Nigeria. Fulanis have been shaped by thousands of years of battle with the harsh forces of nature to be more clever, more canny, more aggressive, to have sharper instincts of survival and sense of perception. And our leaders do not understand them. Imagine fighting against an enemy you do not know well!

An example of our faulty perception of the North and Fulani politics is provided by the speech delivered by Chief Abraham Adesanya at the "first Alhaji Abdulrahman Okene memorial Lecture", organised by Gamji Members Association (GAMA), in Kaduna on 15 August. In the speech, which after a critical reading would make a Yoruba look foolish, the Afenifere chief said:

"You have invited me, the leader of Afenifere and leader of the Yoruba to be your special guest of honour. History will record that this is the first time in Nigerian political history whether ancient or modern when a descendant of Oduduwa will be honoured in such an environment so closely and so warmly associated with a descendant of Othman Dan Fodio."

Chief Adesanya speech writers elevated Dan Fodio to the rank of Oduduwa, placing a Fulani man who died less than 200 years ago on the same level of the mythical cultural hero of Yorubas.

They also chose an event in honour of Okene, an Igbira man, to seek dialogue with the Fulani power establishment. Yet Okuns and Igalas, both Yoruba poeples, have been living with Igbiras for thousands of years, far, far long before Fulanis first appeared as destitute nomads in our horizon.

We have overindulged the insensitivity of the Fulani elite and thus have emboldened them to act with impunity in Nigeria.

The Fulani Oligarchy has fought the popular clamour for fundamental changes in our polity almost to a standstill. The governors of the southern states have abandoned their call for state police, although it is the most logical solution to the problem of crime in Nigeria. On resource control, they have told us that people do not have any claim to resources for "merely sitting on them". They have cowed the proponents of a Yoruba traditional leadership institution in Ilorin with the threat of imported violence.

Yet against our loud protestations they have introduced an autonomous judicial space in Nigeria with sharia. And, to boot, they have a local police to enforce the Islamic penal code (Islam was the chief weapon in the Fulani conquest of Hausa country and culture, and their other fiefdoms in the North, and sharia amounts to an aggressive reassertion of the religion as the chief agent of cultural unity in the Fulani-ruled North and the Muslim North as a whole). They claim they have the right to practise their religion the way it suits them, but we have no right to adopt measures we consider appropriate to safeguard our lives and properties.

The Fulani Oligarchy in its traditional form is an outdated system that resists social progress. It is a system that inculcates subordination and acquiescence and these have come to characterise the society and polity of the Fulani-ruled Muslim North.

Nigeria will not move forward until the Oligarchy is defeated like in Cameroon. Yet we are disadvantaged in the battle against this force of backwardness because our leaders are too given to in-fighting, too self-centred, too prone to being satisfied with little achievements. Our scholars are busy fighting for better conditions of service instead of enlightening their people, our popular intellectuals are confused ideologues, our prominent social critics keep quite to avoid being labelled tribalists. Gani Fawehinmi is a tribalist, Professor Peter Ekeh is a tribalist, Tiv generals are tribalists etc. Fulani intellectuals and journalists use the label so often that it seems only Fulanis because of their facial features transcend ethnicity and tribalism.

Fulani supremacist politics is comprehensive. Their few newspapers have well-programmed content. Their few intellectuals pursue an ideological objective: the Fulani supremacy in our politics, and they are very effective in working for their race in Nigeria. They co-ordinate with their traditional rulers, politicians, top civil servants, military officers, both serving and retired. Arewa has successfully mobilised into its membership almost all the prominent retired military and police officers in the whole North. This kind of co-ordination is lacking in the South.

Bola Ige’s death marks a turning point in the struggle for a peaceful, stable Nigeria, free from the choke-hold of Fulani power supremacy. A general in this war has fallen and his demise has dire implications for the nation.

The message of Bola Ige’s death is that we must be ready to do an all-out battle with the idea of Fulani supremacy in Nigeria. We must stop shying away from a fight. Our politicians must seek allies in the North, we must undercut the influence of Fulanis in its regional politics. Our journalists must become conscious of this evil idea of Fulani supremacy in our land, our students must be sensitised to it. Our civil servants, policemen, military men and women, the whole of the civil society must be awaken to this obnoxious ideology of racial superiority. Only this encompassing mobilisation can defeat the Fulani Oligarchy which is the hinderer of our progress in Nigeria.

Fulanis are not invincible. Southerners must only stop lumping all Northerners together for condemnation for our problems. The South must reach out to the North. Kanuris and Yorubas, for example, are related peoples. All ethnological studies of Nigeria since the beginning of the 20th century have always pointed this out. Why can’t Yoruba intellectuals help to make political capital out of this? Why can Southern Christians not reach a strategic consensus with the Christian North, not against Islam but against Fulani-inspired political Islam?

Until the politics of Fulani supremacy is correctly recognised for what it is; a cancer in our nation, we will not be able to move forward.

Anybody who criticises Gov. Akpabio is a Concord newspaper agent who hunger is biting them so hard & poverty is spelt with the veins on their faces. List all the projects he has initiated-federal allocation & I'll tell you that he is a visionary, munificent, pragmatic, transformation-driven, indellible footprints-oriented, development-triggered Gorvenor.
