That "Flown Abroad" Story is False... Gov Chime is in Enugu and He is Okay

By Ambrose Agu

Folks,

There is no truth at all to this Daily Times story that Gov Chime has been flown
abroad for health reasons. His Excellency Governor Sullivan Iheanacho Chime is
presently in Enugu going about his gubernatorial business and steadily
delivering on the 4-Point Agenda for the people of Enugu State. A simple, very
basic investigation could have confirmed the falsity of this story, yet the
Daily Times reporter failed to undertake such a step necessary to confirm the
veracity of the story, (or the lack thereof). This is a very bad case of
"make-up" or hallucinatory journalism and it should be roundly condemned. Gov
Chime is in Enugu and he is okay.

@OP, are you suggesting sources at the state house have been manufacturing news for our gullible media outfits?

Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime has reportedly left the country again, three weeks after he returned to the country from a controversial vacation in London that lasted over four month.

Sources in Enugu Government House disclosed to Sunday Independent at the weekend that Chime left the country on Thursday shortly after the decoration of his Aide De Camp (ADC), Arthur Amobi who was recently elevated by the Nigerian Police from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Chime decorated his ADC, assisted by the new Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Tonye Ebitubituwa.

Sunday Independent gathered that he left the state for a trip abroad immediately after the decoration ceremony.

Our sources disclosed that it was as a result of the governor’s absence that the Secretary to the State Government, Amechi Okolo received a high powered delegation of Senate Committee investigating the Ezu River floating corpses, on Thursday.

One of the senators on the delegation told Sunday Independent that they were told the governor was yet to fully resume work while his Deputy, Sunday Onyebuchi was away from the state.

Efforts by this newspaper to ascertain the latest movement of the governor yielded no fruits at press time as state government officials contacted declined to make comments, even on condition of anonymity.

It could be recalled that Chime was away from the country for four months under controversial circumstances, from mid-September 2012 to first week of February 2013 when he returned to Enugu state.

During the period of his absence, the media were awash with all kinds of speculations about his ill health, causing serious anxiety in the state.

Often the so-called sources are fictitious, as they are simply made up by the reporter.
The point however is that Gov Chime is currently in Enugu doing his job as governor.
I speak authoritatively. This "flown abroad" story is false.

Even if its false, what's stopping the governor from coming out and announcing the inauguration of Coal City Medical Center so that people like himself (even after his term) can go to instead of Germany or Pakistan?

They should all be ashamed of themselves running abroad for 4,5, 6 months without report to the assembly and people of their state.

Nonsense

Nonsense

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mens dept please note the following:

1. Gov Chime never left Enugu State without the knowledge of the Enugu State House of Assembly and the people of the state. You should know that prior to his departure Gov Chime transmitted the Constitutionally required Section 190 letter to the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly informing him that he will be going on his accumulated leave and requesting that the House of Assembly cooperate with the Enugu State Deputy Governor who via that letter automatically became the Acting Governor of Enugu State. This much has been confirmed by the Speaker of the Enugu State Hpuse of Assembly, the Deputy Governor (then Acting Governor) and Governor Chime himself. In other words, Gov Chime fullfilled every legal obligation required of him prior to proceeding abroad. And he acted responsibly in that he ensured that Enugu State had an alternate Head of Government in the person of the Acting Governor prior to his departure.

2. Regarding your reference to a "Coal City Medical Center" please be informed that Gov Chime is currently building an ENUGU STATE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER. It is located somewhat opposite Shoprite in Enugu, directly opposite Enugu SME Center. This Diagnostic Center will be the first of its kind in Nigeria. Specially dedicated to the diagnostic sciences, it will ultimately help the medical community and patients to obtain accurate diagnosis of various medical conditions as a prelude to initiating more targeted treatment. The Center is still under construction, but had it been already fully functional, there would have been no need for Gov Chime or any Enugu resident to go elsewhere to diagnose diseases, least of all cancer. Ironically, if that Center had been finished and functional, perhaps Gov Chime's cancer would have been detected earlier than it eventually was. The Diagnostic Center should be completed soon, certainly before Gov Chime leaves office.

Thanks for your comments.

Jeron1, generally speaking, it may be able to cure cluelessness about certain ailments in the sense that instead of patients and doctors (some times) not having a clue as to the real nature of a presenting ailment, the Diagnostic Center will help the medical communtiy to "get a clue", (that is to be able to diagnose for sure) the exact disease to be treated. So if someone has pancreatic cancer for example, they will not be misdiagnosed as having typhoid fever and sent away with some antibiotics. Instead such a patient's disease (pancreatic cancer) would be diagnosed specifically, thus exact and targeted treatment can start immediately. As you can see this will save so many lives so we applaud Gov Chime for this initiative. And Jeron1, thanks for your comment.

I said it back then, Chime is out there quietly working in Enugu and people are making the story up that he flew out.

Spyder880 that story has since been debunked as false. It was all a lie aimed at "rattling" and embarrasing Gov Chime. Since his return on February 8, 2013, Gov Chime has been in Enugu working hard at his gubernatorial duties and delivering democracy dividends to the people of Enugu State. Spyder880, since you are from Enugu, you probably would understand that there is an Ebeano-sponsored media campaign to discredit and destroy Gov Chime's reputation. This story that he has been flown back abroad due to health reasons is a lie and part of that nefarious Ebeano-sponsored media campaign against Gov Chime.
