hello house. please i need your candid advice. i am thinking of getting a clean toyota corolla 2000 as my first car.but i need your opinion on the car
is it good for a first car? is it not expensive in terms of maintenance? what other info do you have on the car.all your generous, candid comments are welcome

I have been using a 1998 model for 4 years now, i bought it off a colleague @ work who previously used it for 18 months.

Pros: Very low fuel consumption, low maintenance cost (i hardly see a mechanic), handling is fantastic, suspensions are just there, car is not really electronic so you will hardly visit "rewires", Car is easy to fix by almost any mechanic, parts are readily available, engine uses timing chain which needs no serious maintenance.

Cons: Engine wears off quickly and engine oil consumption increases as a result (http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/131-8th-generation-1998-2002/391951-excessive-oil-use-2002-corolla.html). Presently my engine consumes 4 litrs of oil within a month. Door handles break frequently, inadequate space and leg room.

Advice: If u already have a family, please don't consider. Very good for a first car.

No it is not, the model was made from 1998-2002.

It uses the same 1.8ltr 1ZZFE engine.
