Warri Wolves head coach, Paul Aigbogun believes his alliance with the Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger will help the club defeat Ethiopian side, Dedebit FC in this year’s Caf Confederation Cup. Both sides go toe to toe in the first leg of their first round contest at the Warri City Stadium on Saturday and Aigbogun is looking forward to a positive result. The trainer is back from the United Kingdom, where he was made to undergo a “special training” alongside Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials, ex- coaches and former internationals. “I was in the UK for eight days and I learnt a lot there. I met the Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger and we shared notes on football. “Wenger opened my eyes to the modern innovations of the game which includes football philosophy and the use of technology, and professionally running a club. "I also met the gentleman in charge of match analysis at English championship club, Derby County. “I am sure these experiences will help me, not only this weekend against the Ethiopian club, but for the rest of my coaching career,” Aigbogun told supersport.com. Wolves reached this stage of the Confederation Cup after overcoming RC Bobo Dioulasso 4-0 on aggregate. Aigbogun is however expecting a tougher challenge against Dedebit FC. “We knew, even before our second leg (preliminary round game against RC Bobo Dioulasso) that we would play them (Dedebit FC), so we started doing our homework on them a long time ago. “The good thing is that all our players are available and are available for selection,” he said. |

Warri Wolves attacking midfielder Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has said his side will complete the job in Warri against the Ethiopian opponents, Dedebit FC. The Seasiders will host the East African side in the first leg second round of the Caf Confederation Cup clash on Saturday at the Warri Township Stadium. Ibenegbu claimed that his side know very little of the Ethiopian foes but insisted that his side are capable of taking any opponents to the cleaners. “We just want to get the job completely done in Warri. Nigeria then head off to Addis Ababa for a formality match. “That’s how we want to go about the Saturday’s Confederation Cup clash against Dedebit FC. “We know very little about the Ethiopian side, at least, we’re aware they’ve about five of their players in the national team. “Warri Wolves, too equally have a sizeable number of national team players in their midst who can match any opponents in the world. “That’s not to say we’re going to underrate the visitors though but we’re determined to win convincingly right here at our backyard in order to make the reverse fixture quite easy. “I’ve already shaken off the fatigue as a result of the Supersand Eagles campaign in the eight-team invitational tournament in Durban, South Africa and training perfectly well for the clash same as my teammates. “The team spirit is quite high and we’re positive to get everything right on Saturday,” said the Nigerian playmaker to supersport.com. The reverse fixture is expected to be held at the 35,000 seats Addis Ababa stadium on the weekend of April 3-5 |

Gbolahan Salami will play for Warri Wolves in the 2014/15 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season after his move to Serbian club Red Star Belgrade fell through. The striker has also been registered to play for Wolves in the 2015 Caf Confederation Cup. Moses Etu, media chief of the club, said Salami would be available for selection as the new season gets under way this weekend. “I can confirm to you that Salami will resume this weekend after discussions with the management. “I also spoke with him and he confirmed he will be available this weekend to fight for his shirt. The good thing is that we registered him for the Caf Cup assignment and he will have to fight it out with the rest of the attackers who have proven that they can fill the gap,” Etu said via a statement made available to supersport.com. Wolves have been in fine fettle this season with players like Abu Azeez, Omofoman Freedom, Oghenekaro Etebo and Osadiaye Joseph getting in on the goalscoring act in recent matches. Etu noted that the team would no longer be built around Salami who was Wolves’ most potent attacking weapon last season. “Unlike in the past, coach Aigbogun no longer build his team around one player to score, rather, he has told them anyone can score and that is what we are doing now,” he said. Salami has been capped twice for Nigeria at senior level, scoring twice for the Super Eagles. |

A 24 man team made up of 18 players and 6 Officials of Dedebit SC Football Club from Ethiopia, Warri Wolves FC opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup match fixed for Saturday at the Warri City Stadium arrived Lagos on Thursday afternoon and were Air- lifted to Benin before making it to Warri by road. At the Same time, the match Commissioner, Al-Hadj Jawulu from Ghana and Match Officials, Hassan Mohammed Hagi, Hamza Hagi Abdi, Bashir SH Abdi Suleiman and Bashir Olad Arab , all from Somalia arrived Warri on Thursday afternoon for the 1st leg, second round of the Championship. In a brief Statement released to the press by the Media Manager of the Club, Etu Moses on Thursday evening, the stage is now set for the match which promises to be explosive as both sides have what it takes to make it to the next round. " I can confirm to you that the visiting team finally landed in Lagos on Thursday afternoon and we could not get a direct flight to Warri so we took them to Benin which is less than 100km and from there, they travelled to Warri by road. As for the Match Officials, they arrived on time so they flew straight to Warri and we thank God for their safe arrival. With their arrival, all is now set for the match and we are praying for a good weather on Saturday. We will continue to appeal to our fans to come out in thousands to watch this classical match. In Ethiopia, we have been told that we will meet not less than 35 thousand fans so if we can get about 20,000 fans here, it will go a long way in motivating the players for a good victory" said Etu. |

Evestar200: Madam,Salami is no longer in his prime. There are younger and enterprising youngsters ready to send him to oblivion. Now,about your coach, his presence is irrelevant because Warri Wolves has no soul,no culture. Its just like Dolphin,Sunshine and Sharks. These aforementioned teams make a lot of noise with nothing to show for it. Wolves might have money but Gabros has identity and culture. Y'all need to go do your homework, properly. |
