TRUE CHARACTER OF CHAMPIONS It was obviously a well fought three points for the peoples elephant at the Godswill Akpabio stadium Uyo, against the ever resilient Akwa United. The game was a high tempo one as both teams fought to the finish, but it was Enyimba who stood tall after 90 minutes, courtesy of Pyagbara's first half strike. It was the peoples elephant's first away win of the season, and also a very applaudable one for that, given the kind of fight Morris Coreman's boys put up in anticipation of an equalizer. But the Aba blue boys held up to their points and wouldn't easily give out any to their host against all odds, but one shouldn't be surprised to see all the fielded Enyimba Fc players in today's match at the massage table apparently receiving an acupuncture or a stretch up, because in my own perspective, the only thing that separated today's match from second world war is simply the absence of guns, grenades, war captains, war ships, war planes, battalion squads, and probably the absence of Adolphous Hitler. The result of today's game clearly buttresses the Enyimba's Captain remark (Chinedu Udoji) when Akwa United defeated them by 4-3 on penalties after 0-0 regulation time result in Abuja National stadium earlier this year to lift the Charity Cup. This were his exact words when he was interviewed by NAN after the game; "We created a lot of chances but we were not lucky to convert those chances and you know that penalty is anybody’s game. In spite of the loss, we have resolved to defend the league title we won; Charity Cup is a tune up match for the new season, and I am happy with our performance. It is not a do or die affair but I know that this coming season will be a tough one and we must conquer" fumed Udoji. He's not far from the truth anyways, they did not only bounced back against the same team that denied them some medals some months ago on a neutral ground, but they also took the fight straight into the corridors of the United boys and conquered them right before the prying eyes of their fans. It's obviously gonna be a night to remember by the Aba blue boys, as they've made a very big statement about their title defence. That's the true character of champions!!! |

Looks like Enyimba is about to set off a momentum. Its not easy to go to Akwa Ibom and defeat one of the most dreaded team in the league. The Champions league test must have sparked off something in them...Nzogbu! |

NRIPRIEST: You've lost 4 matches in 8 and the season hasn't even kicked off in full gear. You have champions league distraction added to your fixtures, are you sure you wont be going on relegation this season? I laugh in swahili... Anyway, you need to be relegated, money allocated for sports in Abia is small, we need to concentrate on the brighter future which is Abia Warriors 1 Like |
Re: Official NPFL Thread. (nigerian Professional Football League) by NRIPRIEST(m): 2:47am On Apr 27, 2016 |
MaziOmenuko: Isi adiro gi mma....lol. What brighter future? Enyimba fc. is a powerhouse in African club football and you are comparing it to a karate playing Abia warrior...mtchew!The least you could do is to show some respect to a club who secured two spots for Nigeria in the champions league. If managed very well Enyimba can fund her self, without the help of the government. The club is about 400 million richer, having qualified for the Caf Champions league group state where the big money start flooding in. Abia warriors is the least of our problems. They are just an up coming club struggling to stay in the league...lol. We have the league and champions league to execute but our aim is not to win the league but to place comfortable on the stand in order to make the champions league cut next season. However, our ultimate goal this season is to reach the champions league final and hopefully win it. As for Enyimba going to relegation, that's very disrespectful and insubordination on your part....Respect your elders...lol |

this salisu of a coach is an idiot.u have coached in d npfl wit various clubs instead of u to help promote d league.u rada call up only players abroad for ur friendlies.d day we stop dependin on foreign players dats d day we would move forward each player no mata where u play home or abroad should be given equal playin ground as far as u are good.how are we gonna develop d league if d people at d helm dnt ever believe in it.imagine 4 d fact dat dis guy is even a seasoned npfl coach.am so pissed right now.sentimental idiot .whats d need of havin a league if they wouldnt get call ups which would have served as a mortivation 4 dia performance. MaziOmenuko: Same thing is happening with 3SC too; players are owed backlog of salaries and most of them are loaned out. Right now, I am just praying that we do not relegate, with the way we are playing. |

I think this season belongs to the antelopes, Enugu Rangers are currently topping the league and it will remain so till the end of the season. This is our time to shine. |

Anything can happen at Sanni Abacha stadium. They were beaten by a club at home last season, besides Entombed will still pose a strong challenge for them. |

groundnutoil: But we can't be carried away by that single result. There are bigger challenges ahead. The previous match against Rivers United in Umuahia left a very bad taste in my mouth. We need to get it together and show our superiority in the league. All those dozens of missed chances need to be worked on. We need to be calm in front of goal! Nzogbu!

Nigeria's "El-Clasico" lived up to the hype indeed. Congrats to the People's Elephants. They are showing again that they can win the big games when it matters but they need to keep this up. Was disappointed seeing them play a 2-2 draw the last time out against Lobi Stars after stunning The dreaded Awka Utd in Akwa Ibom!!!! (mehn!! that was some win ) Enyimba's crew led by Aigbogun need to work on super consistency like very seriously. They have the players to challenge Amapakabo's High flying Enugu Rangers for the NPFL title in the long run (while maintaining a strong challenge in the CAF Champions League) and Baba Ganaru's Pillars despite their loss will still be in the hunt for the title too (though I feel this loss may come back to haunt them later in the season because winning the big games can determine who take the league title down the line). This league season is already exciting..... |
