The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Tuesday said it was planning to hold a special prayer session for all pregnant women and waiting mothers in the country.

The General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who disclosed this at a media briefing, said that the programme would hold on April 7 at the RCCG National Headquarters, Ebute Meta, Lagos.

Adeboye, who was represented by Mr Goke Aniyeloye, an assistant pastor in charge of Social Responsibility, said that the special prayer session would be for God to sustain His blessings for the country.

According to him, “the programme is a manifestation of God’s great vision for the country.

``One of the major reason for marriage is procreation. In Africa, we place high values on marriage and procreation, and we need God fearing offsprings to succeed us, people we can leave our inheritance to.

“Africans leave their inheritance to fellow human beings and not animals as it is done in some developed countries. We leave behind successors who would continue to bear and uplift the good name of the family.

“These are the same reasons why we should take adequate care of our pregnant and waiting mothers,” he said.

Adeboye noted that prayers should be included in ante-natal cares for safe delivery of pregnant women.

“Our pregnant women should deliver safely like the Hebrew women of old, who gave birth before the attendant or midwives came.

“Waiting mothers also have to be prayed for, so that God will open their wombs. No man or woman is permitted to be barren.

“We are all created after the similitude of God, therefore, we are licenced to be fruitful", he added.

The cleric said that the situation of things in the country would certainly bounce back for the better, adding that prayer was the only means of attaining a breakthrough.
