Of the 229 people recruited recently by authorities of the Nigerian Air space Management Agency (NAMA), the five states of the South east got 106 slots representing about 47 percent of the total number of people recruited, documents seen by Daily Trust have revealed.

On Tuesday last week, the House of Representatives committee on federal character informed the parliament that is has opened an investigation into the matter following a motion sponsored by deputy minority leader Rep. Suleiman Kawu Sumaila (ANPP, Kano).

A tabulated distribution of the posts among the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) shows that Abia state where the managing director of the agency Engineer Mazi Nnamdi Udoh came from has a total of 32 slots.

In the same vein, Anambra state where aviation minister Princess Stella Oduah come from has 32 slots, while Imo has 29; while Enugu and Ebonyi states have eight and five slots respectively.

Closely following the three states of the South east are Kogi 24, Cross River 20, Delta 14, Ogun 12, Benue 11 and Akwa Ibom 10.

However, Zamfara and Jigawa states were given zero slots, while FCT, Taraba, Sokoto and Kebbi states have one each.

Adamawa, Bayelsa and Nasarawa were allocated two each and Bauchi and Ekiti have three positions.

Gombe, Yobe, Rivers, Lagos got fours each, while Borno, Katsina, Niger, Ondo, Kano and Kaduna have five slots each. Others are Kwara, Osun, Oyo with six lots, Plateau 7.

“If urgent step is not taken the problem will defeat the purpose of the federal character commission establishment Act especially with regards to equal distribution of job opportunities among states of the federation and the supposed transparency and due process in the activities of the civil service it will create serious tension in the country,” Kawu said.

What's the current composition of this agency?

Daily Trust has an agenda and a broken clock is right at least twice a day but it's still a broken clock that uses funny information to obfuscate.

S/east always have the highest number of graduates, devoted and serious minded.

@least now that we are remembered, lets have the floor. I pray NAMA director won't face any music...

What is even wrong with this daily Trust Newspaper? Always fanning the ember of discord between North and South. What is wrong if nobody qualified from Zamfara and Jigawa States . Why did they not complain when JAMB recorded Zero applications from Zamfara State in 2009? Should NAMA go hand in cap to beg the herdsmen to come and work for them, knowing fully well that they did not qualify nor applied for such Jobs? Whoever inserted this quota system in our constitution must be an enemy of the State.

This is a deliberate plot to deceive the public. Please our dear wise men. Tell us the composition of NAMA now. Also, tell us the composition of other federal institutions. If quota should be used in all our institutions, it should be done correctly. Post the ethnic/geographical distribution of employees in all our institutions. Then we would know who is cheating who undecided Stop engaging in statistical falacies. Daily post, we are not morons in this country. You are exposing yourself!

I don't know the number of graduates Imo or Anambra states would produce that would more than Lagos state. I don't know the number of graduates that South East would produce that would be more than three times of what South West produce. Why is all these nonsense common in places where these people head? These people have no regard neither for competence nor quota system. NAMA, Civil Aviation, Immigration, Defence

Yes Zamfara and jigawa may not have enough graduate or qualified applicant but does that means that Enugu and ebonyi too did not have enough graduate and applicant to compete with abia, anambra and imo state? Ok may be that should be between that region, did abia state only produces same number of graduate as all SouthWest put together or Neast and Nwest put together, that Edo did not produce any graduate as Zamfara and jigawa. This is too much my friend, it may be normal when u favour ur peaple in certain things but when u selfishly allocate all to ur self in enviroment of scarcity that we find our selves is very bad.
50 to 65 slots out of 229 slots share by 6 groups would have been better but going overboard and allocation half for one group when 6 are suppose to share it is big time selfishness and greed.
We just have to say the truth when we are caught in the web of insincerity rather than justify our wrong actions with what ourselves may not like if we were in same shoe.
