ijebabe: Oh my, this is really good. A movie that does not focus on runs girls, corny romance or confusing crime/thriller films grin
They did put in a lot of work although I could make out the car crash scene was digital and the flash of light from the guns didn't fall right or bright for no damn reason. But good acting, intense, I like it! Thanks VillageBoi smiley
The bolded is the problem i have with most NIgerian movies. We're doing more technical movies than we used to and i also think we have better actors but we need to do something about our story lines. The kind of stories we tell are ridiculous and comedic. We need real stories or stories that majority of Nigerian can relate with and not those blackberry babes, Abuja big girls kinda movies. This is the reason why my favourite producers/Directors will remain Izu Ojukwu(Action), Tchidi Chikere(village) and Tunde Kelani(African)

A typical 'Nollywood 'Áction' film, reeking of gun-totting juveniles, unreal-looking crime lords, & EXCESS, EXCESS, EXCESS of an orgy of blood, violence and SMG gunshots (to cover up for the film's shortcomings); but DESPERATELY LACKING CONTENT! All through, I couldn't grasp even a hint of a moving storyline, just the sound of rataratatap everywhere and blood (how sooo unreal!). Some people were even moving about in shops and selling while all the 'shooting'was going on.

Is this America (their action films dont even have this excess eyesore of blood &violence) or are we still in Nigeria? What's the plot, script or storyline? That is the bane of Nollywood. You think to write a quality, creative piece is mai-mai? Nollywood producers/directors/actors should stick to their craft and commission scriptwriting to the professionals - and I'm not talking about their brothers, relations, quacks and wannabes that hang around movie shoot sites. Just tell the pros your concept and pay the professional fee

The op actually sought ur criticism but a "constructive" one devoid of dignity trampling like u did. It would have been better if u had criticized with advising undertone.

The trailer isn't bad but I've seen better naija trailers that have turned out to be very poor movies.
Nollywood in my opinion should keep it simple and go back to the basics. All this over sabi hollywood movies wanna be is enough. Movies such as Ije,Two Brides and a Baby,Anchor Baby,Mirror Boy and even that dance movie with Ini edo, that movie about secondary school life and Aromatu are all crap if you ask me.

I suggest for starters Nollywood should start making historical movies and biographies about Nigerians and Nigeria.

Who's gonna make a movie about Life in the 60s,70s and 80s (Which are largely undocumented)Ogunde,Isaac Boro,Ahmadu Bello,Fela,MKO Abiola,Christopher Okigbo, awodele awojobi,Ojukwu,Awolowo,Mary Slessor,The Various Nigerian Coups,Even recent occurences such as the Odi masaccre . It took America to take the Fela story global via broadway;Americans telling the story of one of our own.

Its bad enough most Nigerians don't know much about their history. Its even worse Nollywood isn't doing anything about it. The worst even is that Nollywood can't do fiction cos the producer is probably d director/writer/script writer and actor. No specialisation or professionalism.

Clap for yourself! You've spoken well...nonsense!
Nigerians are so good at criticising from afar but never getting their hands into doing something unique.
How can you say movies like 'Anchor baby', 'Ije' and co are rubbish? Seriously? Were you high when you logged in? As much as they may just be fair improvement compared to what Nollywood is known for, you don't rubbish ppl's sweat like someone who is battling with PARANOIA. grin

Milo Clap.

Plus they are crap cos I'm not comparing them to their fellow Nollywood "Crapees". I'm comparing them to Hollywood and Bollywood standard cos those movies are supposed to be the best Naija has to offer.

I'm sure you will agree with Nollywood making more historical movies and movies based on biographies and past incidents however crappy they may be

you have to consider the budget of these movies - it's a tad folly comparing low budget nollywood movies to bollywood/hollywood. we don't even have a studio in nigeria to make these movies, they are all done at the site of the location - this is why these movies are basically living room movies!

Hmmm! foolishness. Another idiotic and propaganda for violence. You folks complain of cults in your Universities, armed robbery and all unhealthy and sadistic activities.

When will you open your eyes and renew our minds to the fact that all these type of movies promotes violence subtly. As a matter of fact the Western world you copy; a good example the U.S, is making every effort to control such gun violence.

I strongly believe in the right of free speech, but Nigeria is gradually embracing an epidermic from the ghettos and alleys of certain cities in the U.S. The celebration of murder and mayhem is nothing to glory about in our movies. Nollywood needs to do a script check or else......

Because they got more publicity doesn't Mean they are nollywood's best.
Always say what you are sure of. Thanks

To that your point of history whatever. I disagree! I'm sure it would be bias and that's what nigerians will hold on to. Thereby causing some stupid nigerians/nairalanders to start a fresh bigoted story promoting hate. If the nigerian literature gurus can't come together to create a positive side story (with extra juicing for modesty and yanking of the very bitter parts - yea I know I want them to lie a little but trust me, every country does it!) of Nigeria history, they should forget about history. We live in the present afterall.

You realise these guys stepped out and made this for hardly any money? Of course they are going to showcase the best of their action skills and their post-production skills look far more realistic than most other Nigerian 'action' films.

Lol historical films with everyone wearing perm, fake nails and speaking with one kain strange Americana accent. The bulk of our 'historical' films suck.

MediaInspired and Vicade - Good to hear your points which comprises of they, they, they... So what ARE YOU doing about it? You both badly want change; have you started WRITING stuff? Very GOOD stuff? I'm just asking. The truth is as an audience member you don't even have to. But since you seem very passionate about it then why not cross over to the 'other side' and get involved? Oh and if you are rich then sponsor the kind of productions you'd like to see wink
