Former Head of State, retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the people of Ganye in Adamawa State over the recent attack by gunmen.
He expressed the condolence during his visit to the Gangwari of Ganye, Umaru Sanda, at the latter’s palace on Thursday.
Mr. Buhari, who was represented by the Adamawa State Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Mohammed Waziri, sympathised with the people over the loss of lives and property.
“On behalf of our presidential candidate, the CPC National Headquarters, state governorship candidate, Buba Marwa, and the entire CPC family, we wish to register our sympathy with you and the entire people of your chiefdom over the unfortunate incident of loss of lives and property that occurred in the area,’’ the party chairman said.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery of the lost property.
“We pray to the Almighty to expose the perpetrators and continue to protect the country from these ungodly acts,’’ he said.
Soldiers ran away
Responding Mr. Sanda thanked Mr. Buhari and other party officials for identifying with them at their hour of need.
“What really happened in Ganye Town is sad and pitiful, the teams of soldiers and police that were supposed to protect our lives and property all abandoned us and ran away during the attack.
“We are just waiting for our death on that day because nobody protected us,’’ the traditional ruler said.
He called on the people to pray for divine intervention so that the country would witness permanent peace and stability.

Please if you don't have anything to say shut up. I was in Ganye when the attack happened all the security including soldiers and mobile policemen stationed in the town ran away. The attackers took over the town for more than three hours and the security simply ran and hid themselves. Had they done their job most of thr attackers would have been killed.

This is not about federal govt it is about cowardice exhibited by the police and soldiers. The prison was being guarded by armrd soldiers, mobile policemen, regular police and prisons armed squad and when they heard gun shot they simply melted away.

I thought GANYE contributed 4000 strong army during the Biafran war? So what now happened? Have they developed cold feet from defending themselves when attacked by their 1967-70 extended family members?

Nobody wan die but they wan go heaven?

As a monarch and one of the most powerful in nigeria, what has been his own contribution to the protection of right and property of the soldiers and police?

If the police and soldiers were killed in the scene, what would be the compensation for their courage with no problems?

What has Biafra got to do with this. Why don't you just leave the past where it belongs and move forward?

grin grin grin grin This is what I keep telling deluded nigerians that they should pray that nigeria dosen't go to war with another African country. If that should happen, then they will realise that their soldiers are better sprinters than Usain Bolt grin grin grin.

Lols. cheesy how can the police and soldiers face the attackers when they don't have as much sophisticated weapons and armoury as the BH things? At the mention of ijebu garri, all flakes must bow na.

And wherr did get that Hanye contributrd 4000 troops? If you don't know what to say about the glaring cowardice exhibited by the police and the soldiers please shut up. It is the soldiers and police that are trained, given arms amd paid to protect the people and yet they ran and you are talking about people of Ganye developing cold feet. On that day if had a gun I would have killed a number of the attackers. I think the problem with the security is that the cowardice at the top is transmitted to them.

If Soldiers and mobile policemen are not trained to face a bunch of terrorist then who is? I am telling the the mobile policemen and soldiers far out number the attackers. For instance there were more than fifteen armed mobile policemen, soldiers and prison armed squad, who were aware of the impending attack, guarding the prison yet attackers easily over ran the prison without being challenged.
