Mr walcom

Mr reaky

What's the 'catch ' with 10.3.2...I'm not sure but I heard something about locking id or something?

what you heard are
1. once you update to 10.3.2, you cannot downgrade to a lower OS

2. once you log in with a BBID and password to a BB10 device running OS 10.3.2 and above for the very first time, you have to use the same BBID/password combination to free that device. wiping the phone will not allow another person to log in to the device. the advantage of that is that your BB10 will be useless to a thief.if the thief wipes it and sells it to an unsuspecting buyer, that buyer will never be able to associate that device with their own BBID

Tizen is still in its early phase and the phone running on it is budget. Samsung provided a method that allows it to run android apps, out of the box or not(dunno). But do you think bb would have added android runtime if it wasn't for lack of apps? So many users wouldn't even have a bb10 if bb didn't include this method in it's os.

I don't think it's official but the name is insta10
Modified

the problem i have with your post is the incoherence

BB10 was available for close to a year before android runtime was introduced to bring android apps to BB10 to add to the 250k-300k BB10 native apps available at the time.

more than 700k and probably more of the 1billion android apps can be installed on BB10

Windows mobile has just over 300,000 apps and no one is shouting death to microsoft

Insta10 is a native BB10 app not a tizen app

That message was in response to my message. I had asked him if there was now a native and official instagram app.

I recently updated my q10 to 10.3.Bleep. It was great for a few days and one day while on a call, it was terminated and I saw "no sim card inserted". I tried a different sim on a different network, same thing. I took the phone back to claim warranty as it was just over 12 days old, I was told that the phone would have to go to blackberry and may take 1 month before I get it. They "adviced" me to get it fixed for 3k. (I got the phone from Affordables in ikeja and this is officially the last time I will ever get anything from them).

The "fix" seemed to solved the issue. Less than 48hours after the fix, network disappeared and I saw a "technical error" code and notification saying "sim card has been locked against network....". A restart or battery pull returns my network but some days I need to pull batter 2-3 tunes to get network back. I need a permanent fix as this is stressful for a less than 3weeks old brand new device.

Is this a software bug or a hardware issue? Would unlocking the phone fix it.

Quite confused which is odd as I'm usually knowledgeable about handhelds.. Any engineer in the house?

@zsch,
sorry about what you're going through but it seems you have been scammed by affordables. a new phone doesn't behave like that. the problem is most definitely NOT a software problem

Sorry about all that.... I've had issues with a phone I got from affordables too, had to go with an army friend before they could change the phone. They said all that same story of fixing and all but I didn't agree cuz I wanted the another phone entirely which they later did with plenty talk and argument. Dunno if twas a coincidence or they sell faulty phones.

BlackBerry now has a franchise in Ikeja not too far from the bridge, I'll advice you take it there if the phone is still under warranty.

This blows. I work in the other end of Lagos so I can't travel back and forth to argue. I have Affordables as a co tact in BBM, I politely asked for their Manager's number. If they don't give it to me, I will figure a way to track it. Irrespective of how this ends, i'll be steering clear of them in the future. Never again.

You should make use of a wireless network to update your Q10, that's the only way you can get the update since you don't own a laptop.
You can connect to a hotspot to update.
