mxxpunkxx!:if your ride is electronically limited to 120km/h, how have you won races against BMWs...or other 6cyl engines...so we cannot race! 120km/h wont give us results...the 323ci is limited at 144mph... |

Please read carefully, I said as long as you're in D you won't get past 120kph. The trick is to downshift . . . The RPM never falls below 5K once you're in 3. If you're conversant with an Altima, you'd get the gist Maybe "my own Altima" |

yungboss: Siena and co, the official 1/4 time for the 335i is 13.6sec. I guess the v8 Audi will not be a second quicker...if not slower! The 335i is faster than the e46 M3...someone should post the official stats of the v8 Audi...V8 isn't equal to 'faster' against the I-6... I've done the standing quarter at Santa Pod in an RS6 at 12,26. Pretty respectable for a station wagon that tips the scales at 1,975 kilos. You're getting things mixed up here. I'm not referring to the Audi A8 with the 4,2 V8. I'm referring to the Audi RS6. The only thing it has in common with the Audi A8 is it has a V8 motor, but there the similarities end. The RS6 is a blown engine, with two fat snails, one per bank. It's like saying the E39 BMW M5 is the same as an E39 540i. Yes, both V8, but very different. You should know that. The Audi A8 4,2 V8 is not a sport-oriented car, neither does Audi describe it as such. It's a luxury cruiser, so not really comparable with the 335i. And lastly, I never said V8 equates to faster than an I6. I read power graphs, I look at power-to-weight. I look not only at peak torque, but also at torque "under the curve", all of which determine how quick a car really is. |

Siena:@siena and mxxpunkxx, oops! my thought was fixed on the A8 audi. forgive me, to mxxpunkxxx, suprise you outsmart the setup of your car, nice one. Is the manual spec of the Altima common? But the 3.5 se v6 is lighning quick! |
Re: Got Smoked By A 2007 Camry V6 by Nobody: 10:10pm On Apr 03, 2013 |
yungboss: Again bro, you're getting things muddled. Maximum and Limited speed are two very different scenarios. The 323ci has a maximum velocity of 144mph. It is not limited electronically or mechanically to 144mph. That is literally as fast as the car will go, with the stock wheels and gearing. Put larger wheels on, and raise the gearing, it will go faster, removing spoilers that create drag will up the maximum velocity even more. The E46 M3 has a Limited belocity of 155,3mph. The restrictor is electronic, the engine has the capability to power the car to a higher maximum velocity, but it's kept in check. If the gearing was made higher, the maximum will NOT increase. The increase in gearing will only affect how quickly the car reaches its maximum. In this case, it'll take longer to hit 155,3mph. The only way the maximum velocity of the 323ci can be increased is by increasing horsepower. The only way the maximum velocity of the M3 can be increased is by having the speed limiter removed, by software / remap. Increasing the output of the M3 by even 20%, and leaving the limiter in place will not increase maximum velocity. It'll just get there quicker. |

yungboss: At least where I live, I have not seen up to 2 manual transmission ALtimas The 3.5 SE v6 is the most common, followed by the 2.5S . . I am looking for a way to reprogram the SPEED LIMITER. It sucks !!! |

Emperoh:okay got that. Well i haven't accessed the sound quality from the Accord's speakers, but i do know the that the one in my e46 is very powerful, better than a corolla's. If you know the clk 430's sound system it is close to that, atleast that's the one i know. I dont know about the 318...unless you want me to compare that of the accord with the bmw, i'l do that before i leave office as my colleagues have the accord you refered. |
Re: Got Smoked By A 2007 Camry V6 by Emperoh(m): 5:38pm On Apr 04, 2013 |
yungboss: That will be cool mehn! Do the comparison and revert please. That Accord dey do me many things. I see it in my dreams. The other car i like that much is the 2003-2005 Audi A4. The Audi Symphony Sound System on it and the interior design gives me hard on These are the only two cars standing between me and my BWM 325xi or 330i 03 - 05 Station Wagon! |

Guy, that '05 EOD should have been on same route with '05 330i or even 325i. 328i ended in '2000/01. Bimmers are racing machines. Damatians get sick when not as active as they should, so are the BIMMERS. xerotop: |

A 2005 325i/330i should be faster than the 2005 accord on that kind of journey, in a race, i would go for the e36 328i, some say it is faster than the e46 328i because of the added weight of the e46...i'm sure the 1996 328i will do better in that race, a long distant course... |

Emperoh: I was asking cos the sound quality i have experienced in two 320is and 1 X5 left a lot to be desiredEmperoh, i think the stereo output of the 323 sounds better than the Accord's, my colleagues have not been using theirs, unfortunately the lady i could have easily approached has not been around, but the output of the 2004 Honda Accord i listened to today, the e46 surpasses it...but again, maybe the adjustment numbed it...i did not have the chance to check it properly.... |

Interesting thread. Back to the Camry v the BMW. There are so many variables between both cars. To start with they are not evenly matched. When it comes to handling they put down their power differently. The BMW is rear driven and the Camry is a front wheel drive..to much power for a V6 to put through the front wheels. You can still drive Front driven powerful cars quickly but a lot of skill is needed. As to the Camry "fishtailing" the road conditions, the speed at which the driver entered the corner the condition of his tyres including the thread and of course the skill and experience of the driver all matter. Its a lot easier to pile on the power on a straight road and hold your steering fairly straight but a different matter powering a powerful car at speed round a corner. I think the guys racing on this thread are very brave. But I guess the temptation of having all that power under your right foot is difficult to resist...especially if someone in the next car is saying..my motor beta pass your own. You no fit pick race. Peolple have mentioned the Audi RS6. Its a monster and has 4 wheel drive to handle all that power. My mechanic has one and the crazy guy tuned it to get even more power. madly fast. |

Interesting thread. I have an i4 '98 Audi A6. Was on my way to Asaba from Benin sometime last year when this 07 V6 Accord came by, gave the normal stare down and zoomed off. You know what comes next. I chased and chased, and met him at about 170/180...he got there long before me of course. However once there's a cluster of cars and trucks I always emerge first from it. We eventually got to Asaba at the same time. Literally side by side. He gestured a hat-off salute and went his way while I went mine. His car was faster, accelerates quicker but despite mine being many years older and due to the speed limitation as a result of the nature of the road he didn't prove the point he wanted to when he initially gave me that look. Basically, any car can get to 180. If you're racing on the highway, it boils down to the drivers' skill and ability to make those skilled overtakings a mere mortal wouldn't dare and would cringe and hold the interior door handle tightly if they were in your front passenger seat. Its not racing if you're just stepping on something and holding a steering on a straight line. Anyway, I'm breaking up with my Audi for an E46 soon. I can't wait. 1 Like |
