A friend was joking about how nl can not go public and if it did it'll be a public joke.i asked why and she said it has no business model. We almost threw insults at each other coz of this until i observed it 4 months and im now asking d same question.

It's business model is: generating traffic to its online discussion forum, and converting some of that traffic to cash through ad revenues, simply put.

The business model is no different from Facebook's just that Nairaland sells adverts manually.

Correct, and Seun really needs to do something about that soonest. Smaller sites in Nigeria, are already using automatic payment systems on their sites and here we are.

This is a good idea. Naturally, we have considered it. We plan to automate when we are satisfied with our evolving business model.

But you are not helping the small business that cant afford your adverts. why dont you create a board where we can pay to post adverts and in return you send traffic there? many like me will love to convince our clients with our write ups rather than a small banner pic.

jamji, you can still buy an ad and then link the ad to a landing page where you can use your sales-writing skills to the fullest.
