am 24 i have been suffering from nasal congestion for over four months now, i have been to the hospital, and i was given some nasal drops each time i use it, some relief will be given but after some hours the blockage which is sometimes from one nostril to another occur again and it remains till i use the drop again. I went to the hospital and did some x-ray this time for sinuses but it came out negative but they doctors suspected rhinitis, i was given eucalyptor oil to use with steam but still yet nothing seems to be happening, if i perceive they smell of a perfume, the nose get blocked the more or if i stay under the fan for long, the nose get blocked. I have exhausted all the medications precribe for me but my condition is still the same. Am even tired and discourage to go to the hospital again. Please if any one had had similar experience or you might have an idea of what i should do. Please help me out.....its killing me silently. Thanks.

Sounds like an allergy. If your current doctors can't figure it out, get a second opinion from a different hospital.

@OP It's definitely an allergic reaction you're having and I know this because I also suffered the same fate and realised it at a time I was using an aftershave that was high is alcohol. I also noticed I sneeze almost at the instant I perceive a strong perfume. So till date I no longer use perfumes or aftershaves especially the ones that have a strong alcohol base.

Your cure basically is to avoid substances that causes the allergic reaction. The moment you're in contact with such substances will further jeopardise your chances of having a clear nostril so try and figure out those things that cause such reactions and avoid them. No need for too much medications.

Good advice from Brand_new. @op stay clear of cold drinks and water. Always drink hot water, as hot as possible. Eat more of hot food like tea, soup, oats etc. Take lots of vit. C. I hope this helps. Speedy recovery

Don't thank us until your problem is solved. Go to a different and better hospital for a second opinion. Doctors are not perfect.

Op, try using pure petroleum jelly(vaseline) as face moisturizer to prevent allergy..

Or you might have a swollen septum, then you'll have to see an ENT specialist. What country are you in?

when it come to rhinitis(running nose), it is certainly that your body is reacting/responding to an allergen, check the substances you are exposed to ,it could be pollen grains around that are usually microscopic, or materials already infected with a Rhino virus(catarrh agent) or even penicillin powers provokes the immune cells, check this factors, take immune booster like vita c(lemon), antihistamine to relief the blockage, and make sure your are not having malaria, cos it seems to lowers the body immunity in some way too, then seek an expert that will not complicate issue for u outside this

Have you tried ORTRIVINE nasal drops? you can get it in a chemist,it cost about 600 naira. i had a similar problem,but mine didnt stay for months. it worked instantly for me when i used it. all you have to do is drop the liquid in your nostrils and it clears your nose instantly. you can also try Aboniki Essential balm. put the Aboniki in a very hot water and inhale the heat coming out of the water. i hope you stay away from Air condition,direct fan, cold water and whatever you are allergic to. wish you a speedy recovery.
