ABUJA — The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, the apex social-cultural cum political body of Igbo people world over, Chief Gary Enwo- Igariwe, has said that the position of the group on the proposed amnesty for Boko Haram Islamic sect by the Federal Government in Kano State last week was wrongly presented in the media, saying the option of amnesty was treated in isolation. Speaking with Vanguard Sunday, Chief Igariwe regretted the embarrassment the issue had caused him, pointing out that the group’s position was that Ohanaeze would support any option of the Federal Government to bring lasting peace in the country to guarantee a healthy atmosphere for economic activities. His words: “The statement on amnesty should not be taken in isolation. What was on ground was the issue of anything that can be done to bring peace because our people want to live in peace in their environment, everything, including every option of government. That was my statement. Igbo will support anything that will bring peace.”

....so why the re-dedication of loyalty and peace to Kwankwaso and Bayero They did same thing during Ladipo stalemate bringing Rochas and an Eze in tow to dedicate peace to Fashola in Lagos.

Everyone wants peace but I dont see Yoruba leaders, with their Oba in tow, going North or East to dedicate peace and tribute and neither is North going West or East. So why are Ibos doing this? Tell your Ohanaeze and Massob to stop this nonsense. Hausa should be coming with their Sarki to your land to beg forgivenes...not the other way around.

The Hypocrits of Nigeria are at it again Tinubu first begged for Amnesty for the North
Tinubu backs amnesty for Boko Haram as he visits Emir of Kano

http://theeagleonline.com.ng/news/tinubu-backs-amnesty-for-boko-haram-as-he-visits-emir-of-kano/

A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday supported the position of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, that members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, should be granted amnesty.
Tinubu, who spoke during a visit to one of the hotbeds of the insurgency in the North, Kano, said that contrary to the claim of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the members of Boko Haram are not ghosts.
Tinubu, who was in Kano to commiserate with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, on the attack on him and his convoy recently, said the use of force to resolve the Boko Haram onslaught will not work.
He said: “You will end up multiplying the perpetrators by trying to use force against your own citizens.
“If today, America is questioning the head of the national security, who targeted its own citizens waging terror against America, so can’t we protect their interest?
“I therefore disagree with the President.
“They are not ghosts.”
Tinubu also called for the proper funding of the police.
He said without the needed manpower and equipment, fighting crime will be difficult.
He added: “Let the IGP have 100 per cent control so that we can hold him responsible for any security lapses that may arise in the country.
“He is in a better position than some Ministers.
“Some people are happy and benefiting from the Boko Haram insurgency because it allows them an unhindered access to security votes and want it to continue.
“So I am convinced that the Boko Haram conflict is sponsored by some people for economic reasons, while others try to polarize it along political devices.”
Tinubu condemned the attack on Bayero, adding: “We came to Kano to pay courtesy call on the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, over the most unfortunate attack and the incident that happened to an institution like him and a great father with wisdom, who has spent many years on the traditional throne as a leader.
“Been exposed to such an attack is very dangerous for our country and is making things seem hopeless.”
Bayero thanked Tinubu and his entourage for the show of love.
He described Tinubu as a visionary and purposeful leader.
Among those who accompanied Tinubu on the visit were the National Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Bisi Akande; the presidential candidate of the party in the 2011 election, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; a former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Alhaji Musa Gwadabe; and a former National Chairman opt the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Alhaji Yusuf Ali.

Amnesty for Boko Haram: Tinubu ‘misspeaks’, attempts to clarify but ends up confusing everyone

http://www.thescoopng.com/amnesty-for-boko-haram-tinubu-misspeaks-attempts-to-clarify-but-ends-up-confusing-everyone/

Nigerians woke up on Thursday, read a quote attributed to former governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu, during his Wednesday’s visit to Kano, and let out a collective gasp at what they read.

Bola Tinubu reportedly said in an interview in Kano that: “For the innocent ones among them (Boko Haram), there must be amnesty. We cannot fight a war in our own country against minor crimes and minor people.”

READ: Bola Tinubu, Nuhu Ribadu, join Kano governor to visit victims of suicide attack

READ: Favour Afolabi: The many presidents of Nigeria

Kano has recently experienced two prominent cases of terrorism: The first one, two months ago, when the convoy of the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, was attacked by terrorists in an assassination attempt. Bayero survived that even though some of his guards lost their lives in the attack. The second case happened only this week, when a bomb blast in a bus park resulted in the deaths of over 25 people.

Tinubu visited Kano to commiserate with both the Emir of Kano and the victims of Monday’s blast.

But questions rose from the reported Tinubu’s quote, like: Is there an innocent member of Boko Haram? How do we define innocence? And what does Tinubu mean by minor crimes and minor people?

Quickly sensing the growing outrage by the reported comment, the media office of the former governor promptly released a statement titled “Quoting Tinubu correctly on amnesty for Boko Haram,” in which they claimed that Tinubu supports amnesty but with conditions. Tinubu’s condition is that “all Boko Haram with blood in their hands” must be brought to justice.

The statement which was signed by the special adviser to Tinubu on Media, Sunday Dare, stated that the actual comment of the ex-governor in Kano was thus:

“I support the granting of amnesty to the sect but with some conditions, which includes justice for those people with blood in their hands because it will go a long way in discouraging such dastardly acts in future. If you called Boko haram ghosts, what of their members that were arrested and are in various prisons? These people are human beings and through them, their colleagues can be known and talked to.”

In the clarification, there was thankfully no mention of “minor crimes” or “innocent Boko Haram members.” The media houses which quoted the governor saying those things, would definitely speak in the coming days if they stand by their relay of the event.

However Tinubu’s clarification has led to more confusion. If the ex-governor indeed supports amnesty, how does he intend to differentiate the members with “blood in their hands” from the Boko Haram members without blood stains. Also, these “colleagues” of jailed Boko Haram members who Tinubu want them to reach out to, are they all free from blood stains in their hands?

Bola Tinubu needs to come out and explain the fine details of his (or the ACN’s/or the APC’s) position on amnesty, otherwise it would be taken simply as a position chosen because it is anti-Aso Rock.
