Amosun tackles opposition over alleged contract scam


[size=13pt]The Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has declared the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the state “dead and buried.”[/size]

Amosun has also described the recent allegation of N8bn road contract scam leveled against his administration as the handiwork of some people “that ordinarily should be in jail.”

The governor stated these while speaking with newsmen in Sagamu and Ota during an inspection of roads projects in the state on Saturday.

He accused those making allegations of contract scam against his government of lying to the people of the state, stressing that because they were idle they had become the “devil’s workshop.”

Amosun said, “The truth is that it is a shame that people that ordinarily should be in jail; people that looted all the good people of Ogun State’s money, they have the opportunity for eight years, what did they do? They were just calling blue red and red black, believing in their own wisdom that they know it all; but we have demonstrated that it is not about talking but working.

“Again, I sympathise with them they are confused, they are frustrated. They don’t even know what is happening, they are perplexed. Everyday they ask themselves, how is he doing it? They see what we are doing and they never believe it is possible but we thank God and the good people of Ogun State for believing in us not like them.

“Of course, our people know who are thieves.

How can anybody in their right senses make that assertion that this road, nothing has happened here? Without sounding immodest, there is no state in Nigeria that can match the quality of what we are doing including Abuja; go and check the amount we are taking.”
