To buttress on your well observed point, Oba of Benin remains the only Monarch that still commands respect before 'real people' you will not hear him visiting Head of States or Presidents for 'favours' but they would rather visit him for his Royal Blessings and advice, he is an Enigma, one-of-a-kind kiss

Actually I'm from Ado-odo and although till this moment, things are really sketchy because we've not heard what really happened from any official source but from reports we heard, the Oba's driver and a motor cyclist where arguing over who had the right to pass on a road and the Oba had to come down to slap the man,he was alleged to have asked him who his father was in Ado to have argued with his driver, before people knew what was happening, the guy beat him up and his palace was burnt, the man who beat him up was arrested but later released. I'll also like to tell those who are cursing my town to please stop whatever they are saying,if you don't know how all this started,it's better you keep quiet.
The issue of Obaship is one issue that hasn't been managed well in Ado,the people claim they want Muniru, the courts installed Lateef, but the bone of contention is,we have actually told each camp especially the Oba Lateef camp to make peace moves amongst the aggrieved members of the community, rather all they sought was vengeance and it was like the yoruba saying of ati ti oje bo olosa lowo,ko si baba eni ti o le bo,there were cases of police arresting their opponents, shooting and killing and I even witnessed one, where on a sunday morning, mobile policemen raided our town and for a week it was like a war zone and Oba Lateef had to move with police escorts, even if these stories were rumours, the Olofin-in-council should have made moves to approach everyone who feel they are aggrieved but no,they kept to themselves and it turned into a sitiation where even the youth leader they installed can't boast of organising a youth meeting and five youths will attend.
The state government, the Oba and indigenes haven't managed the crisis properly. Under OGD's tenure, curfew was introduced when houses were burnt and people killed, even the SIA led government gave them letters to appear before the truth commission which till date,we've heard nothing about.
But it still remains a fact the Oba and his subjects need to learn from this issue,he's not a king over a group,he's a king over Ado,we've always begged him to come out to address people,he'll not show up. I was in his palace for two days to talk to him,his subjects kept telling he was sleeping. Likewise the Muniru camp too,I was at Isabo court to plead for peace and they too refused, even our politicians failed to call both camps to order, they insisted on dethroning him,so what should an average person in Ado do?
It's a sacrilege on the stool of the Olofin but it has happened, each group should please learn lessons from this incident and let peace reign in Ado-odo.

violence is the only language many nigerians have and from the look of things,it is apparent that violence is the only tool nigerian youths have to bring their leaders to book since the police force is an apology.since peaceful protests, round table discussions and activism on news papers have failed, violence is the last and only resort to bring many leaders to their senses

You are right, but Oba of Benin too does not bring his throne to disrepute and he did not ascend to the throne through supreme court order. Therefore, he has legitimacy both in eyes of the the people he is suppose to govern.

In all fairness, I really dont know the offence this dude committed to have been ridiculed like this , but I am aware this is town is notorious for land grabbing activities.

to start with does the king himself fear God talkless of people e.g one fat hooligan that they call oba who raped a corper.does that show fear of God,self respect and respect to his office.i know all this obas, they are too shady and diabolical.they only use culture to cover up their misdemeanours :p

Pls if you dont know anything about my town, dont just write anything based on rumours, there are several estates in ado-odo and no one has ever complained about land grabbing, acres of land are even sold between 900-1.2m and nobody disturbs u.
The neighbouring town called otta is well known for land grabbing not ado,cos ado indigenes have always had issues with them trying to grab their lands,so please the Obaship crisis is enough, dont add land grabbing to it.
