it is better on word because almost every computer have ms word program but not up to halve have pdf related. if you allways send it on pdf, chance are that the reciepent will not be able to opon it

PDF is better. It looks good and cannot be altered. Imagine the distraction of reading a CV with many red lines under your name. Plus most apps recognise PDF when auto-transfering your CV to their database.

it can be tampered (intentionally or otherwise)
there might be version issues, compatibility issues, font issues, etc
even macro/virus related issues too.
my candid advice, use pdf unless instructed not to.

I think it's better to use word document. But make sure you save it in 1997-2003 format.

Word format is the Best because most corporate organization in Nigeria use Windows Operating system. They might not have adobe on their PCs

Overseas, the preferred CV format is PDF, the reason being that PDF files are rarely susceptible to virus attacks and by virtue of this immunity they can't carry any virus along to be transferred to the receiving end over the internet. In other words, PDF files are always safe to download, however, the same cannot be said for Word files. Word files are prone to, easily attacked and rendered unreadable by viruses and viruses easily attach themselves to word files, thus making them unsafe to download when sent over the internet.
I don't know about the generally preferred modus operandi of Nigeria anyway, though I've seen more companies demand more of PDF than WORD. However, whenever I'm sending any document of mine, be it transcript, letter, etc, I always send it as PDF. The advantages are highly valuable.
Take this from an IT specialist.

Definitely PDF because that way you are guaranteed that your designed format will remain the same. Word doc acts funny sometimes and it opens up differently on different computers.

I guess it also depends on how your format is but generally PDFs are easier to open and what not.

PDF... you won't have to deal with formatting issues.
